We’re currently focused on product modernisation, driving growth and building infrastructure for the next 10 years of community-powered modding.

Our Role

We are looking for a Community Manager to join our team, supporting our new communities. You will drive day-to-day engagement across multiple communities at once, build meaningful relationships, and connect those communities to our broader company goals.

You’ll be the link between our users, creators, partners, and internal teams, making sure we listen, respond, and show up in ways that feel authentic. Every community has its own culture, so you’ll know when to adapt your approach.

This role requires empathy and credibility within online communities, and the confidence to handle both everyday interactions and high-pressure moments with care. It is also a high-volume role. You’ll be juggling several communities, platforms, and conversations at once, so it suits someone who thrives on pace and variety.

Role Requirements

  • Proven experience managing multiple communities or channels at the same time, with the ability to prioritise and context-switch without losing quality.
  • A good understanding of PC gaming and the Steam platform. Familiarity with SteamDB or GTA V modding is a plus.
  • Be a top-tier communicator with excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in running large community spaces.
  • Operate swiftly and effectively, with as little hand-holding as possible. You are a go-getter who can get things done.
  • Comfortable working at pace with a heavy and varied workload, and motivated by it rather than overwhelmed.
  • Bring a positive and effusive attitude to the role; no challenge is too great.
  • Strong empathetic interpersonal skills, meeting people where they are.

Role Responsibilities

  • Be at the heart of the communities you support and a constant, available presence for them. You are the face of the company within these spaces.
  • Manage multiple communities at once, prioritising your time across platforms such as Discord, Reddit, social media, and community-run sites.
  • Keep in regular contact with key figures in each community, even when there’s nothing to discuss, to show we’re available and ready to listen at all times.
  • Understand how our products and platforms operate and effectively communicate our policies, values, and standards.
  • Spread the enthusiasm for gaming, data, and modding. Engage positively with members of the community even when they do not.
  • Liaise between the company and our communities, easing friction and helping to make things work better for everyone.
  • Communicate relevant business news and changes to communities and key individuals.
  • Report relevant news, trends, and sentiment from each community back to the wider business.
  • Defuse high-tension situations and foster an environment of understanding.
  • Support moderation efforts and help uphold community guidelines consistently across all spaces you manage.
  • Conduct user research and interviews, document feedback in digestible formats, and share it with the wider team.
  • Identify problems and opportunities across our communities via real-world testing.
  • Validate problems and opportunities through quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Work with the Product team to craft actionable, prioritised backlogs.
  • Solve user problems quickly and effectively.
  • Deeply understand the communities, sharing that knowledge with the wider team.
  • Keep abreast of developments in PC gaming, the Steam ecosystem, and GTA V modding, sharing insights and opportunities with the wider business.
  • Take advantage of upcoming events in gaming, such as Steam sales and festivals and major GTA releases or updates, to ensure we capitalise on them.
  • Build brand loyalty and position our platforms as trusted, go-to resources for each community.
  • Ensure creators, mod authors, and key contributors are recognised for their efforts.
  • Identify community projects that would benefit from investment from the company.

Benefits of Working at Nexus Mods

Benefits
  • We work a 4-day week of 32 hours, with no reduction in pay.
  • An allowance of £25 each month to spend on video games.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Private BUPA healthcare for you and your family.
  • A very flexible training budget.
  • Regular social events throughout the year. Participation is optional!
Diversity and Inclusion

We celebrate diversity and want you to bring your whole self to work.

Supporting an incredible community of tens of millions of users, we thrive on engaging as many views as possible to improve our platform. We see no reason why our culture should be any different.
