The position utilizes CAD, 2D/3D modeling, rendering, and simulation tools to drive product development and design validation. This role manages a minimum of 2 and up to 5 direct reports, with responsibility for setting technical direction, prioritizing work, developing team capabilities, coaching performance, and providing ongoing mentorship. The Staff Design Engineer also provides technical leadership to less experienced staff, supports cross-functional design initiatives, and partners with manufacturing plants to address design and technical needs.Essential Functions\nLead engineering teams and provide technical assistance.\nOversee project direction, including planning, prioritizing tasks, and managing implementation.\nCoordinate multiple projects with varying levels of complexity\nSolve complex engineering problems and provide solutions.\nEnsure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.\nMentor junior engineers and collaborate with other teams.\nResponsible for designing primary packaging components for the leading, lightweight bottle producer in the world.\nWork with Product Development team to understand needs of customer, design to specific requests and provide requested documents by customer deadline\nProject manage new product design projects from design to testing validation\nPerform line trials to approve designs for production\nManage and maintain library of designs to be referenced for future projects\nMonitor vendor progress on projects and ensure proper prioritization is communicated\nUtilize simulation to project design outcomes and reduce time to market\nDevelop new software tools and support general laboratory testing\nVisit new suppliers and learn new technologies\nTravel up to 33%\nPlease note this job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
