Accounting Manager

About You:

Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will play an important role in our Finance team. You are a highly organized, results-oriented professional with strong problem-solving abilities. Self-motivated and capable of working independently, you also know when to seek guidance to ensure accuracy and alignment. You take ownership of everything you do from start to finish, demonstrating proactivity in completing deliverables and communicating status updates to leadership. Specifically your responsibilities will include:

Accounting & Transaction Processing

• Coordinate and manage accounting, payroll, and administration for the company and assigned subsidiaries, including intercompany transactions.
• Process and post transactions, including customer invoices, vendor bills, receipts (cheques, wires, EFTs, credit cards), and journal entries.
• Maintain the accounts receivable ledger and follow up with customers on outstanding balances.
• Review and approve employee expense reports and enter them into the payroll system for reimbursement.
• Oversee corporate credit card use, including transaction verification, reporting, and timely payment, and provide oversight of subsidiary credit card processes.

Banking & Cash Management

• Oversee daily banking activity, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in a timely manner.
• Monitor company cash activity and oversee subsidiary cash activity to support effective cash flow management.

Month-End Close & Reporting

• Lead the month-end close, posting adjustments including prepaids, capital assets and amortization, accruals, and interest.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations in collaboration with the Finance team.
• Maintain complete and accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and corporate procedures.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements across all entities.
• Support year-end audit preparation and the annual business plan.

Order-to-Cash & Inventory

• Manage financial controls and reporting across the order cycle, including customer purchase orders and commercial agreements.
• Ensure inventory transactions flow accurately between the inventory management and accounting systems, from order through COGS.
• Support sales administration, including customer supplier-portal registrations and coordination with customers and the sales team.

Compliance & Government Programs

• Prepare corporate financial and payroll reporting and other recurring compliance filings.
• Assist with funding applications and claims for government programs (e.g., SR&ED, IRAP).

Office & Administration

• Manage the shared finance inbox.
• Perform other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of previous experience in an accounting role and sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Post-secondary education in accounting / business program
• Proficient in using standard office software with previous experience using accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks and advanced skill in Microsoft Excel
