Provide technical expertise to support project timelines, cost targets, and overall product success. Utilize engineering tools and methodologies to support the full product lifecycle, including design, analysis, testing, validation, and production launch.\nThis role supports the development and production of electric motors, including both electrical and mechanical design, customer sampling, engineering approvals, and ongoing product support.\nKey Responsibilities\nProduct Development & Engineering\nDevelop and define product specifications based on customer and market requirements\nDesign electric motors, including both electrical and mechanical components\nPerform engineering analysis, testing, and validation to ensure product performance and reliability\nCreate and maintain production documentation, including bills of materials (BOMs) and technical drawings\nConduct testing per internal and external standards and generate detailed test reports\nAnalyze and interpret performance data, including graphing and summarizing results\nProject & Cross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to support product development and resolve issues\nCoordinate meetings and communication with customers, manufacturing sites, and internal stakeholders\nDevelop project schedules, resource plans, and test plans to ensure timely execution\nSupport new product launches and transfer designs into production\nCustomer & Business Support\nPrepare technical proposals and quotations in response to customer and marketing requests\nProvide technical support to internal teams and external customers, both remotely and on-site\nSupport sales and marketing with product selection and application guidance\nBuild and maintain strong customer relationships\nContinuous Improvement & Support\nIdentify and contribute to cost reduction and product improvement initiatives\nSupport software testing and troubleshooting for new releases\nAssist in the development of new product platforms\nPartner with Quality teams to address and resolve product issues\nSupport manufacturing plants in troubleshooting design and process-related challenges\nLab & Technical Work\nOperate lab equipment and tools to test fractional horsepower motors\nRead and interpret electrical diagrams and technical schematics\nSafely use hand tools and power tools as needed for testing and prototyping\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field\n0-2 years of experience in engineering, preferably within the electric motor or manufacturing industry\nInternship or co-op experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment is a plus\nSkills & Competencies\nStrong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills\nAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously\nEffective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams\nDemonstrated initiative and emerging leadership capabilities\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail\nProficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn new systems and tools quickly\nFamiliarity with safe operation of hand and power tools\nAdditional Requirements\nAbility to travel on a limited, quarterly basis\nAdditional Job Details\nEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec\nNidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
