The role will directly interface with key customers to understand their specifications and create complex products that meet those needs. This role has a direct impact on product performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability through advanced engineering judgment, deep technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration. The role will report to an Engineering Director with oversight from a Vice President.Job Description\nResponsibilities\nAdvanced Design & Technical Leadership\nLead design and development of complex components, subsystems, or products from concept through release\nTranslate high-level or ambiguous requirements into robust engineering solutions\nApply advanced engineering principles, standards, and industry best practices\nEngineering Analysis & Validation\nPerform advanced calculations, simulations, and tolerance analysis\nLead design verification and validation activities\nIdentify and mitigate technical risks through structured analysis and testing\nDocumentation, Reviews & Configuration Control\nOwn creation and approval of detailed drawings, specifications, and BOMs\nLead design reviews and technical decision discussions\nEnsure configuration control, change management, and documentation accuracy\nManufacturing, Quality & Lifecycle Support\nPartner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain on design for manufacturability and cost optimization\nSupport quality investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions\nProvide technical support during production, field issues, or product changes\nCross-Functional Collaboration & Advisory\nCollaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project teams. This will include teams within our division as well as other divisions within Nidec\nCommunicate technical recommendations, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders\nSupport new product introductions, scale-ups, and process improvements\nLeadership Through Expertise & Mentoring\nServe as technical mentor and reviewer for Design Engineer I and II roles\nShare best practices, lessons learned, and design standards\nContribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline) required \nAdvanced degree preferred \nTypically 5-7+ years of progressive experience in leading new product development \nAdvanced knowledge of engineering design, materials, and manufacturing processes \nStrong proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools.
