This role focuses on delivering sustainable, repeatable, and improved solutions and processes while maintaining high-quality workmanship and Data Center cleanliness. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to crews, collaborate with stakeholders on project progress, and demonstrate a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies while adhering to all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nInfrastructure Installation & Decommissioning:\nInstall and decommission network, system, and cabling infrastructure in Data Center environments\nPull all types of low voltage cables following industry standards and best practices\nPerform fusion splicing and fiber optic cable installations\nExecute field terminations and labeling for copper and fiber cabling\nLayout MDF and IDF closets according to specifications and blueprints\nDress all types of cable and perform all types of terminations\nPatch network equipment using both copper and fiber connections\nExtend fiber circuit lines and work on analog and DSL systems\nHardware Configuration & Testing:\nProvide base configuration and \"burn in\" of new servers, switches, and other hardware\nTest and troubleshoot both copper and fiber cable installations\nPerform cable terminations, testing, and splicing for both copper and fiber\nValidate connectivity and performance of installed infrastructure\nConduct quality assurance checks on all installations\nProject Management & Documentation:\nRead and comprehend blueprints and building documentation\nRedline work and maintain accurate as-built documentation\nProvide structured feedback on project progress to various stakeholders\nCollaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles and resolve issues\nTrack metrics and SLAs to ensure project deliverables are met\nManage network and system handover processes\nExecute project close-out procedures and documentation\nQuality & Safety:\nExhibit quality workmanship on all work assignments\nMaintain Data Center cleanliness and organization standards\nFollow all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices\nUnderstand and comply with job safety requirements\nEnsure proper use of telecom hand tools and equipment\nAdhere to change management and documentation procedures\nProcess Improvement:\nDeliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes\nContinuously identify opportunities for improvement in workflows and procedures\nProvide leadership to crews and mentor junior technicians\nContribute to best practices documentation and standard operating procedures\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nEducation:\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent required\nTechnical certification or Associate degree in related field preferred; OR Equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience\nExperience:\nHands-on experience supporting Data Center network, system, and cabling installations or similar settings\nProven experience with structured cabling installations in production environments\nExperience with both copper and fiber optic cable installations\nTechnical Skills:\nCabling: Experienced in pulling all types of low voltage cables\nTesting: Understanding of both copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting\nLayout: Ability to layout MDF and IDF closets and dress all types of cable\nFiber: Basic understanding of fiber equipment and all types of fiber terminations\nWiring: Familiar with wiring schemes and wiring testing procedures\nSystems: Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems (Debian/Ubuntu specifically)\nHardware: Experience with base configuration of servers, switches, and network equipment\nTools & Equipment:\nKnowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools\nProficiency with cable testing equipment\nExperience with fusion splicing equipment\nFamiliarity with cable pulling equipment and techniques\nProfessional Skills:\nAbility to read and understand job floor plans and blueprints\nClear understanding of job safety requirements\nStrong attention to detail and quality workmanship\nExcellent organizational and time management skills\nEffective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nLeadership capabilities to guide and direct crews\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs\nAbility to work in Data Center environments including raised floors and ladder work\nComfortable working in confined spaces and at heights when necessary\nAbility to work outside normal business hours when needed\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nCertifications:\nBICSI Technician | BICSI Installer Certification\nFiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification\nCompTIA Network+ | Linux+\nTechnical Experience:\nFamiliarity with analog, DSL, and circuit extension work\nExperience with Data Center infrastructure technologies (HVAC, power, cooling)\nUnderstanding of change management processes in Data Center environments\nTools & Technologies:\nExperience with ticketing and project management systems\nFamiliarity with cable management documentation tools\nKnowledge of Data Center infrastructure management (DCIM) systems\nAdditional Qualifications:\nExperience supporting government or DoD Data Centers\nPrevious experience in colocation or enterprise Data Center facilities\nBackground in telecommunications or network infrastructure\nExperience with Data Center moves, adds, and changes (MAC work)\n\nCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS\nCompetitive salary commensurate with experience\nComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance\n401(k) with company match\nPTO and paid holidays\nOngoing technical training and certification support\nRoka Security is an equal opportunity employer.
