Nightwing brings disruptive technologies, agility, and competitive offerings to customers in the intelligence community, defense, civil, and commercial markets.\nSenior SOC Analyst\nLocation: Client site Boston, MA\nPosition Overview\nThe Senior SOC Analyst is responsible for advanced threat detection, incident response, and security consultation within the Security Operations Center. This role involves investigating complex security incidents, mentoring junior analysts, and continuously improving security operations processes.\nKey Responsibilities\nCollaboration with Leadership\nProactively measure the security program and provide/implement improvements\nAdvise Executive Leadership on current and future risks to their environment\nServe as a communications bridge between multiple SOC teams\nDevelop security solutions/processes that are mindful of Operational budget constraints\nSecurity Monitoring & Analysis\nMonitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and other security tools\nPerform advanced threat hunting and proactive security investigations\nAnalyze complex security incidents and determine scope, impact, and root cause\nCorrelate data from multiple sources to identify sophisticated attack patterns\nConduct malware analysis and reverse engineering when necessary\nIncident Response\nLead incident response efforts for high-severity security events\nContain, eradicate, and recover from security incidents\nDocument incidents thoroughly and create detailed reports\nPerform post-incident reviews and develop lessons learned\nCoordinate with IT teams and stakeholders during incident response\nThreat Intelligence & Detection Engineering\nResearch emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques\nDevelop and tune detection rules and use cases\nReduce false positives and improve alert quality\nCreate and maintain playbooks and standard operating procedures\nContribute to threat intelligence sharing and analysis\nLeadership & Mentoring\nMentor and train junior and mid-level SOC analysts\nProvide guidance on complex investigations and escalations\nParticipate in on-call rotation if needed for surge support or incident investigation\nContribute to SOC process improvements and automation initiatives\nReporting & Communication\nPrepare detailed technical reports and executive summaries\nPresent findings to management and technical teams\nMaintain accurate documentation of procedures and investigations\nCommunicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience\n5+ years of experience in cybersecurity or SOC environment\n3+ years of hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, Microsoft Sentinel required\nProven experience in incident response and threat hunting\nExperience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools\nNew Collaboration with Leadership section\nExperience managing a SOC\nContribution to SOC process improvements or automation\nProactive problem-solving\nRisk management and budgetary awareness\nProject management experience\nTechnical Skills\nDeep understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security\nProficiency in log analysis and security event correlation\nKnowledge of malware analysis techniques and tools\nFamiliarity with threat frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain)\nStrong understanding of Windows, Linux, and cloud environments\nExperience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash)\nKnowledge of forensic tools and methodologies\nCertifications (Preferred)\nGIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)\nGIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)\nCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)\nGIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI)\nCertified Ethical Hacker (CEH)\nOr equivalent industry certifications\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience managing SOC/providing Cybersecurity Consultation services\nExperience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP)\nKnowledge of SOAR platforms and security automation\nThreat intelligence platform experience\nProject Management experience\nKey Competencies\nProactive attitude that seeks to prevent problems rather than react to them\nRisk-management and budgetary awareness\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to work under pressure during security incidents\nSelf-motivated with strong attention to detail\nTeam player with collaborative mindset\nContinuous learning attitude toward evolving threat\nWork Environment\nOn-call may be required for surge support or active incidents.\nTraining period requires onsite in office 5 days a week.
