Nightwing brings disruptive technologies, agility, and competitive offerings to customers in the intelligence community, defense, civil, and commercial markets.\nNightwing is seeking to hire a cleared Systems Engineer 4 in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.\n** All candidates must have an active TS/SCI with Poly security clearance. **\nPosition Summary\nThe Systems Engineer 4 will own the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the program's monthly reporting process. Serving as the bridge between the software development teams, the PMO, and the government customer, this person will gather status and requirements information, build and maintain Confluence templates and page structures, and ensure reports accurately reflect progress against customer requirements. A solid understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Scrum is essential, as monthly reporting will draw directly from sprint-level work and team progress. Strong people skills are critical to success in this role.\nKey Responsibilities\nTeam and Customer Engagement\nServe as the primary point of contact between the software development team leads, the PMO , and the government customer for monthly status reporting.\nBuild strong working relationships with team leads to gather accurate, timely input without disrupting development work.\nMeet with the customer to understand their reporting expectations, clarify requirements, and incorporate their feedback into the report and template.\nPresent or walk through monthly status reports with the customer as needed, answering questions and following up on action items.\nRequirements and Reporting\nInterpret customer reporting requirements (contract, SOW/PWS, CDRLs) and translate them into a traceable reporting structure.\nMap work across SDLC phases (requirements, design, development, test, deployment) to contract requirements so the customer can see where each requirement stands.\nAlign monthly reporting with the team's Scrum cadence, translating sprint outcomes, velocity, and backlog progress into customer-facing status.\nAttend sprint ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, and demos) as needed to stay current on progress, risks, and changes in scope.\nMaintain traceability between customer requirements and reported progress.\nConfluence and Tooling\nDesign, build, and maintain Confluence templates, page hierarchies, and macros for monthly reporting.\nEvaluate and support development of a UI or dashboard to streamline data collection and reporting.\nEstablish and run the monthly reporting cadence, including contributor deadlines and internal review before delivery.\nContinuously refine the template and process based on feedback from the customer and internal teams.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.\n10+ years of systems or requirements engineering experience in a software development environment.\nSolid understanding of the full software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements through deployment and sustainment.\nWorking knowledge of Scrum, including sprints, sprint ceremonies, backlogs, user stories, and roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Development Team).\nExperience tracking and reporting on sprint-based work using Jira or similar tools.\nStrong hands-on Confluence experience, including template building, page structures, and macros.\nExperience gathering and managing customer requirements, preferably for government customers.\nExcellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with engineers, team leads, and management.\nComfortable working directly with government customers, including leading discussions, gathering requirements, and presenting status.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical progress into clear, customer-facing language.\nAbility to get input from busy, distributed teams and keep a recurring deliverable on schedule through follow-up and coordination.\nPreferred Qualifications\nScrum certification (e.g., CSM, PSM) or SAFe experience.\nExperience with Confluence/Jira integrations, dashboards, or plugins (e.g., embedded Jira reports, ScriptRunner).\nExperience with requirements traceability (RTMs, DOORS, Jama, etc.).\nPrior experience producing government MSRs, PMRs, or CDRL deliverables.\nBasic scripting or front-end development skills for building lightweight reporting interfaces.\nActive and transferable Active U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
