Software Engineer (Backend / Platform)

Full-time Hybrid (role-dependent) Dublin / London

Build resilient services that support global trading and supply chain operations across our commodity businesses. You’ll ship high-quality software, own it in production, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable solutions for key initiatives.

Role in a nutshell

You’ll design, build, and operate backend services and platform capabilities that enable colleagues across multiple regions to move faster with confidence. Working in an agile engineering team, you’ll turn complex workflows into simple, reliable software - with a strong focus on quality, security, observability, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do

• Design and build backend services and APIs that support trading, risk, operations, and finance workflows.
• Own work end-to-end: discovery → design → implementation → testing → deployment → monitoring in production.
• Improve reliability and performance through observability, automation, and pragmatic engineering practices.
• Write clean, testable code; participate in code reviews and collaborate closely with other engineers.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across services, infrastructure, and integrations; run root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes.
• Contribute to technical direction: architecture decisions, tech debt prioritisation, and platform evolution.

Desired experience

• 3-6 years’ experience building and supporting production software (backend and/or platform engineering).
• Strong proficiency in at least one language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#, Node.js).
• Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST and/or event-driven patterns).
• Solid knowledge of data stores (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data modelling for scale and performance.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, CI/CD, and modern deployment approaches (containers, Kubernetes, or similar).
• Comfortable with logging/metrics/tracing and production support (on-call or incident response).
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; ownership mindset aligned to our values.

Nice to have

Experience in high-availability or regulated environments; security-minded development; data pipelines/analytics platforms.
