Headquartered in Chicago with a distributed global workforce, we are a lean, growing organization committed to advancing consumer finance in the US.\nJob Summary\nThe Software Engineer will be responsible for building new systems, enhancing and refactoring existing systems, integrating with external systems, and performance projects. This person will work with the existing team of developers, QA and Product Managers to design and implement features, have input on roadmaps and bring prior experience to ensure a world class product. You will work closely with your technical lead to shape the overall Engineering vision and roadmap.\nThis person has built systems from the ground up and had to deal with bad design assumptions and scaling issues. The right candidate has developed good design instincts through a mix of seeing 'what not to do' as well as being a 'student' of good design.\nYou'll be part of a team that works in one of the following areas.\nCustomer Communication - how we communicate with our customers & potential customers. I.e. email, sms, snail mail\nIdentity - managing customer and potential customer information\nDecisions - Decision systems for bidding on marketing leads and automatically making underwriting decisions.\nPortfolio Management - Systems responsible for managing the life cycle of our lending and banking products such as integrations to external payment processing systems\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop or modify software and/or software systems and also taking the service architecture into consideration\nAnalyze user needs to determine how software should be built or if existing software should be modified\nTranslate business requirements and specifications into usable and scalable software\nLead design and code reviews\nParticipate in discussions about the team’s future vision and strategy\nIdeal Candidate Will Have:\n3+ years of professional experience as a backend software engineer for non-trivial web applications\n3+ years of Ruby on Rails, bonus point for Hotwire Turbo/Stimulus + Tailwind experience\nThinks critically about work to guarantee business functionality.
