May work with support staff assigned to design business requirements and with quality assurance personnel. This position is responsible for software development and assisting with the maintenance of NISC’s Utility, Broadband, Financials, Operations software and/or mobile applications.\nTo Learn more about NISC's internships, click HERE. \n **Current applications submitted will be under consideration for Summer 2027 (May - August)**\nWork Schedule: \nHybrid from one of our office locations: Cedar Rapids, IA\nLake Saint Louis, MO\nMandan, ND \n\nRequirement: Minimum of working 3 days per week out of an office location and ability to work up to all 5 days a week from an office location.\nEssential Functions:\nPerforms basic research, design and development of software systems.\nResearches, analyzes, and resolves basic software maintenance.\nAssists in the enhancement and/or maintenance of application programs in the business areas listed above within our Application Development Division.\nFollows all established software development methodologies and procedures. \nPerforms quality testing as it relates to both unit and system integration dependent on the tasks assigned.\nReviews and prioritizes assigned change requests.\nEnsures that all information is appropriately entered and utilized in Confluence and/or the iVUE Support tool.\nDesired Job Experience:\nStrong customer orientation.\nFamiliarity with Object Oriented Concepts & Languages (Java and it's frameworks, preferred).\nFamiliarity with Javascript and it's frameworks (newer Angular versions or Typescript preferred).\nFamiliarity with HTLML/CSS/SCSS and enterprise design patterns.\nFamiliarity with relational and non relational databases (e.g. Postgres, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra)\nFamiliarity with Linux and Microsoft Windows.\nFamiliarity with cloud technologies (preferably AWS)\nStrong problem solving skills and attention to detail.\nStrong verbal and written, interpersonal, and communication skills.\nAbility to work independently, as well as in a team environment.\nAbility to effectively adapt to change.\nAbility to interact in a positive manner with internal and external contacts.\nAbility to maintain the highest level of professionalism, ethical behavior, and confidentiality.\nCommitment to NISC's Statement of Shared Values.\nNISC’s Shared Values & Competencies: \nWe’re a cooperative, which means we’re owned by the Members we serve.
