The Team Leader - Design/Drafting will be responsible for ensuring proper team resourcing based on Engineering support needs in both the Field and Design Engineering teams for 2D and 3D design and drafting support by making sure the right team members are on the correct projects and resourced appropriately. The Team Leader will collaborate with Engineering and other key stakeholders on projects of varying scopes and sizes including large distribution projects. Managing the team of designers and drafters will be about half of the responsibilities while managing project related work for the other half of the responsibilities. \nEssential Functions\nLead and mentor direct reports and implement processes to enable the achievement of team goals and objectives. \nProvide team members with direction and feedback as well as monitor performance and provide coaching where necessary. \nEvaluate resources and make changes necessary to support the workflow. \nMaintain AutoCAD templates and libraries for driving consistency across the entire Engineering organization. \nReview and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documents to ensure accurate drafting. \nUse AutoCAD to produce models for natural gas distribution systems and stations in 3D. \nPrepare and maintain accurate records of design changes, revisions, and updates to ensure documentation is up to date. \nAssist with site survey data aggregation for new installations and system upgrades. \nIntegrate and extrapolate GIS data to support site analysis, route selection, and environmental assessments. \nPossible support of Engineering/Operations employees in emergency situations along with other courses in business operations. \nPossible need to demonstrate the ability to work through emergency outage management, possibly providing after-hours support. \nPartner with Field Engineering, Design Engineering, Field Operations, Construction, and other key stakeholders to meet strategic goals and objectives that drives value to our customers. \nRequired Qualifications for Position\nHigh School Diploma or GED \n5+ years of relevant design/drafting experience \nDemonstrated knowledge of Engineering and Construction principles \nProficiency in utilizing GIS systems \nProficiency with the principles of piping systems which include materials, fittings, supports, and specifications \nKnowledge of industry standards and regulatory guidelines \nExperience leading design projects from concept through completion \nExperience in preparing documentation for regulatory approvals and permitting purposes \nAbility to mentor and train junior designers and drafters \nDemonstrated ability to work well in team environment \nValid Driver's license \nPreferred Additional Qualifications for Position\nAssociate's degree Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field \nBachelor's Degree Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field \nExpertise in using AutoCAD 3D \nExperience in leading people and projects \nDemonstrated proficiency with industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures related to utility engineering, construction, operations, and safety. \nThis position will be based out of one of the following NiSource locations, with Columbus preferred.
