The Manager works with Accounting and Finance teams to onboard new transactions and initiatives, providing business partner support and technical guidance. They support the Accounting organization through accounting policy and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.\nEssential Functions\nPerforms research and prepares documentation for complex business transactions and provides the appropriate accounting guidance \nEvaluates and assists in the implementation of new or revised rules of the FASB, AICPA, SEC and other agencies \nIntegrates newly promulgated accounting standards into accounting policies and processes. \nAssists in the preparation of response letters and working groups associated with FASB and SEC exposure drafts that impact NiSource or the public utility industry \nPrepares corporate accounting policies and procedures \nPrepares technical accounting memos that address complex accounting issues, non-recurring transactions, new accounting guidance, etc. \nDesigns workflows to assist in the compliance with GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements \nKeep current with emerging accounting and reporting guidance and trends including FASB standards and interpretations, and SEC releases and speeches. Reviews summaries that include the potential impacts to the Company, and presents findings to affected business partners \nIdentifies and understands emerging business issues affecting the company and energy industry, and provides accounting recommendations to address the issues. \nConsults in the economic analysis of business opportunities and proposals \nInterface with external auditors and accounting support related to complex accounting issues \n Required Qualifications For Position\nBachelor's Degree in Accounting or related discipline \nA minimum of 4 years progressive experience working in Accounting or other related business field \nDemonstrated strong verbal communication and presentation skills \nProven ability to coordinate projects and manage multiple priorities \nWillingness to take on responsibility and challenging work assignments \nDemonstrated proficiency in coordinating activities across functions. \nMicrosoft Office Suite \nFinancial systems experience \nStrong technical accounting skills and solid understanding of current generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements. \nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire \nPreferred Additional Qualifications for Position\n1-3 years Previous supervisory or project management experience \nAs a public utility, NiSource provides essential services to customers 24/7.
