The TSS has the responsibility and authority to implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. This isaccomplishedin such a way that it adheres to NERC, RFC, MISO policies, and procedures. The TSS monitors voltage frequency, power flow, reactive flow, tie-line flow and power equipment status, for internal and external grid security. At all times, the TSSis responsible forthe restoration of transmission reliability after contingencies related to loss of generation, load, naturaldisastersand other system emergencies. The TSS has the operating authority to direct the dispatcher operators during all transmission restoration procedures. The position has a rotating shift and includes weekend and holiday duty.\nRequired Qualifications for Position\nBachelor’s degree in engineering/STEM orhigh school diploma or GED with3 years of experience working with electrical power systems, power generation operations, high-reliability electrical operations, or control room/watch standing responsibilities.\n\nMust be able to successfully pass andmaintainthe NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification (internal training will be provided to prepare for the examination)\n\nMust have the ability to use personal computers, Energy Management System computer and any other associated hardware and software\n\nMust have good planning, organizational,verbaland written communication skills\n\nMust understand the operation of power plants and high voltage interconnected power systems and associated equipment. Must alsohave the ability toevaluate system performance and reliability\n\nKnowledge of electric transmission equipment and system operations\n\nAbility to study and evaluate transmission system requirements as they apply to system stability\n\nStrong verbal and written communicationsutilizingEnglish and strong interpersonal skills\n\nAbility to perform under contingent and emergency condition\n\n24/7 control center environment with rotating shift schedules (days, nights, weekends, holidays)likea DuPont schedule.\n\nMust beabletoworkduring emergency situations\n\nPreferred Additional Qualifications for Position\nMust havepreviousexperience in an electric engineering or electric operations related position\n\nTransmission System Operations background preferred\n\nActive NERC Certification (RC)\n\nDisclaimer\nThis description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilitiesrequiredforthe position.\nAs a public utility, NiSource provides essential services to customers 24/7.
