We are seeking a Chemical Process Engineering Intern to contribute to our nitric acid and fertilizer system.\nThe role focuses on process design, scale-up calculations, equipment selections, equipment sizing, and related process engineering tasks.\n\nYou will play a key role in transferring processes from laboratory to pilot scale and further into industrial implementation, ensuring efficient, safe, and scalable operations.\n\nYou will also actively participate in experimental work to support process development, validation, and optimization.\n\nSupport safety assessments (HAZOP, FMEA) and ensure compliance with relevant standards.\n\nTranslate experimental findings into scalable process designs and improvements, including documentation work.\n\nThis will be a great opportunity to apply your academic learnings in an industrial setting.\n\nYou will work closely with a great team of highly skilled chemists and engineers.\n\nThe position is on site at the NitroCapt headquarter at Danmarksgatan 26 in Uppsala, Sweden.\n\nWhat we offer:\nA unique industrial experience that directly drives sustainable environmental impact.\n\nHands-on experience in a dynamic startup environment.\n\nTo be part of a dynamic, purpose-driven, international team.\n\nAn innovative entrepreneurial environment with possibilities to have great influence.\n\nInvolvement in cutting-edge projects focused on sustainability and green technology.\n\nTo work closely with some of Europe’s best researchers and engineers in our fields, in projects coordinated by NitroCapt.\n\nThis is a part time (75-80%) paid internship.\n\nEducation/Experience\nExpected coursework completed.\n\nStudying or graduated bachelors/master's level education in chemical engineering/process engineering/industrial engineering.\n\nProficiency in equipment selection and process design.\n\nProficiency in making process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.\n\nProficiency in process simulation.\n\nHands-on experience with lab or pilot scales experimental systems or equipment.\n\nAbility to maintain clear, structured, and accurate experimental records and data tables. Good presentation and technical reporting skills.\n\nExperience in scaling processes from lab to pilot is a plus but not necessary.\n\nExperience with R&D related engineering experience is also welcome.
