We’re seeking a Civil Project Manager who will bring technical expertise, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to exceptional client service as we expand in the Virginia market.\nResponsibilities\n\nProject and Technical Tasks\nLead the design documentation process and champion quality from concept through final delivery, including comprehensive QA/QC of design documents.\nUse your technical expertise to guide project teams, solve challenges, and support the growth of developing professionals.\nLead multiple projects of varying size and complexity from kickoff through completion, aligning client expectations, project direction, deliverables, schedules, and financial performance.\nBuild trusted client relationships by serving as the main point of contact on projects and anticipating client needs throughout the engagement.\nCoordinate with discipline leaders to align priorities, resolve challenges, and deliver an integrated approach on major projects.\nBuild high-performing project teams by aligning the right technical resources with project goals, profitability, and meaningful opportunities for employee growth.\nKeep clients, owners, and design partners aligned through proactive communication, clear expectations, and timely decision-making.\nGuide construction-phase services, partnering with clients, contractors, and project teams to address questions and help carry design intent through implementation.\nBusiness Development/Marketing\nCultivate relationships with prospective clients and identify new opportunities that expand the firm’s reach and impact.\nHelp turn successful projects into lasting client partnerships by maintaining trust, responsiveness, and a clear focus on client needs.\nMentor team members in building client relationships, communicating the value of our services, and developing confidence in business development.\nRepresent Nitsch in professional associations, committees, and business organizations, building a strong network and elevating the firm’s presence in the Richmond market.\nShare your expertise through client presentations, professional events, and educational programs that strengthen relationships and raise the firm’s visibility.\nConnect clients with complementary Nitsch services that address their broader needs and create new opportunities for collaboration.\nLead and contribute to proposal development by shaping compelling strategies, coordinating team contributions, and clearly communicating the value Nitsch brings to each opportunity.\nPartner with firm leaders and clients during contract negotiations to establish clear expectations and support successful project delivery.\nStay current on legislative and regulatory developments, translating changes into practical guidance for clients and project teams.\nRequirements\nBS in Civil Engineering\nRegistration as a Professional Engineer in one or more states\nMinimum of 10 years of related experience \nKnowledge of state, local, and/or federal permitting guidelines\nKnowledge of land development techniques to prepare construction documents including sustainable site solutions, site grading, utility design, and design of stormwater management systems to meet regulations\nExtensive use of AUTOCAD and/or CIVIL 3D\nExperience with construction administration\nKnowledge of HydroCAD software is considered a plus\nAs an employee-owned firm, we’re proud to offer rewarding ownership opportunities that reflect our shared success.
