Join Nitsch Engineering’s Richmond, Virginia team as a Senior Civil Project Engineer, where you’ll combine technical leadership, client collaboration, and creative problem-solving to help shape successful projects and strengthen our continued growth.\nResponsibilities\nProject and Technical Tasks:\nLeads the internal design team in preparing drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations for complex or large land development projects.\nCoordinates technical design tasks, delegates assignments across the internal project team, and keeps the Project Manager/Technical Manager informed of progress.\nPrepares project letter proposals and fee estimates for review by the Project Manager. \nReviews the budget status of projects with the Project Manager during monthly invoicing and after milestone deliverables. \nServes as the primary contact for the client’s construction administration team and coordinates responses with the Project Manager as needed.\nPrepares for and participates in design team and owner meetings, represents Nitsch, coordinates design efforts with the external team and Project Manager/Technical Manager, and follows through on action items.\nTroubleshoots construction administration issues and coordinates formal responses with the Project Manager/Technical Manager.\nBusiness Development/Marketing\nStrengthens industry expertise and Nitsch’s marketplace visibility through active involvement in professional associations, committees, and business organizations.\nRepresents Nitsch at client-focused and industry events to stay connected to emerging opportunities and market trends.\nPartners with senior staff on client presentations and educational sessions, helping showcase Nitsch’s expertise and solutions while gaining valuable client-facing experience.\nCultivates new business opportunities and maintains strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry contacts.\nContributes technical insight and project knowledge to compelling proposals that demonstrate Nitsch’s value to prospective clients.\nRecognizes opportunities to extend successful client partnerships by connecting current project outcomes with future needs.\nHelps expand Nitsch’s network by identifying and cultivating potential referral partners.\nRequirements\nA BS in Civil Engineering\nRegistration as a Professional Engineer, required \nMinimum of 8 years of related experience\nKnowledge of state, local, and/or federal permitting guidelines\nExperience assisting with construction administration, preferred\nKnowledge of land development techniques to prepare construction documents including sustainable site solutions, site grading, utility design, and design of stormwater management systems to meet regulations is required\nExtensive use of AUTOCAD and/or CIVIL 3D is required, and \nKnowledge of HydroCAD software is considered a plus\nAs an employee-owned firm, we’re proud to offer rewarding ownership opportunities that reflect our shared success.
