You’ll define standards for reliability, cost efficiency, observability, and security.\nYou’ll lead cross-domain initiatives, mentor engineers across levels, and shape the backend roadmap powering a high-scale financial platform. This role requires strong distributed systems expertise, product intuition, and the ability to drive long-term architectural decisions.\nResponsibilities\nArchitect and lead development of globally scalable backend systems.\n\nDefine and evolve backend architecture standards across serverless and relational systems.\n\nDesign advanced data strategies across DynamoDB and Postgres.\n\nLead multi-service and cross-domain initiatives.\n\nDesign event-driven systems for reliability and extensibility.\n\nOwn service reliability, scalability, and cost strategy.\n\nEstablish observability, monitoring, and incident response standards.\n\nLead high-severity incident resolution and postmortems.\n\nDesign multi-region and high-availability systems for global scale.\n\nDrive security and compliance considerations in architecture.\n\nMentor and develop mid-level and junior engineers.\n\nLead backend hiring and technical calibration processes.\n\nPartner with product leadership to align the backend roadmap with business strategy.\n\nProactively identify long-term architectural risks and scalability challenges.\n\nFoster a culture of ownership, initiative, and engineering excellence.\n\nRequirements\n6+ years of backend development experience in cloud-native environments.\n\nExpert-level proficiency in Python.\n\nDeep understanding of distributed systems principles.\n\nStrong experience designing scalable serverless architectures.\n\nAdvanced DynamoDB expertise (access-pattern modeling, cost optimization at scale).\n\nStrong Postgres expertise (complex query optimization, transactional integrity, scaling strategies).\n\nExperience designing and implementing event-driven systems.\n\nStrong AWS architecture and infrastructure-as-code experience.\n\nProven track record of leading backend teams or major initiatives.\n\nDemonstrated ability to operate effectively in high-scale, global production environments.\n\nStrong product and
