You will then be able to attach your Resume/CV, as well as all other supporting documentation in the \"My Experience\" section of your application.\nJob Description\nSUMMARY:\nReporting to the Director of Transportation Services, the Shuttle Supervisor is responsible for field supervision of transportation operations and the daily execution of bus service between the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses. The Shuttle Supervisor is additionally responsible for direct oversight and evaluation of transportation drivers. The Supervisor also monitors personnel and equipment to assist in the coordination of service and schedules, ensures compliance with safety procedures and confers with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, or requests for service or equipment.\nPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nSupervise transportation work operations, plan work assignments and bus allocations to meet operational goals of the department.\n\nMonitor personnel to coordinate optimum utilization of service and schedules. Dispatch drivers to appropriate routes, demand-response, and special events.\n\nSupervises bus drivers in the field and monitors GPS systems so that passengers are transported according to schedule.\n\nMaintain communications with drivers throughout shift; managing telephone or radio reports regarding delays, equipment breakdowns, accidents, and other operating difficulties. Take necessary steps to resolve difficulties, coordinate replacement equipment or staff to restore service. Prepare appropriate paperwork when necessary.\n\nAssist and implement safety procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules/regulations including Department of Transportation (DOT).\n\nMake temporary adjustments to schedules and routes as required to meet passenger demand.\n\nEnsure that drivers perform pre- and post-trip inspections and bring vehicles into garage for regular scheduled maintenance.\n\nReview, analyze, and interpret applicable federal and/or state laws and regulations affecting the unit.\n\nEnsure that drivers adhere to University Human Resources, DOT, FTA, and departmental requirements.\n\nSupervise and evaluate subordinate employee performance through the review of assigned work as well as through university-wide Performance Assessment Review.\n\nEstablish and maintain liaison and cooperative working relationships with college administrators, faculty, staff, students, student organizations, government and private agencies, and/or the public to accomplish the objectives of the unit.\n\nEnsure that any accidents or other incidents are properly reported, notifying appropriate units such as University Police.\n\nParticipate in the formation of policies and procedures.\n\nAssist in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.\n\nCoordinate and/or assist with orientation of new drivers.\n\nAssist in preparation of bi-weekly payroll in Workday.\n\nParticipate in Drug and Alcohol testing as required by the University and applicable federal and/or state laws.\n\nCoordinate bus repairs with Fleet Services to ensure equipment is maintained and ready for service.\n\nDemonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service.\n\nDrive buses to cover demand when necessary and as directed.\n\nSupervise subordinates in a fair and equitable manner.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nManagement retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nREQUIRED:\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.\n\nMinimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience overseeing bus, shuttle service or transportation operations.\n\nDriving privileges with good standing in the state of New Jersey with Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with passenger endorsement.\n\nAbility to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.\n\nSuccessful candidates must be flexible and available to be assigned to any shift, overtime, and holidays with adequate notice.\n\nPREFERRED:\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office.\n\nAbility to establish cooperative working relationships with offices or organizations that impact on or relate to work of Shuttle Services.\n\n*NOTE: This is a Civil Service position. As required by the State of New Jersey, in order to be certified to the position and attain permanent status in title, candidates are required to successfully serve a 4-Month Working Test Period.\nThis position is designated as essential. The designation of essential requires employees at these 24/7 facilities to be present due to inclement weather situations. This position requires on campus work and is not a position that allows remote work.\nSALARY RANGE: R24: $76,286.63 - $111,856.03 *NOTE: Salaries for internal candidates are determined by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission’s formula.
