We are committed to delivering safe, reliable service that gets customers to their destinations on time--and we're looking to hire talented folks with a love of learning to make it all possible.\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nAssists in the preparation of scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules for transit planningstudies.\nAssists with conducting comprehensive studies to assess the current state of transportation systems, analyze traffic patterns, and identify areas of inefficiency or opportunities for improvement.\nAssists in the development of long term and short term transit planning projects with internal staff and consultants.\nAssists with the design of transportation projects including needs assessments, capacity studies, scenario planning, concept plans, and related technical work for a variety of transit systems, passenger facilities, and access improvements to transit, including parking, bicycle, and pedestrian improvements.\nAssists with data analysis and transportation modeling techniques to forecast future transportation demands and evaluate the potential impacts of proposed projects.\nAssist with communicating and engaging with various stakeholders including government agencies, community groups, businesses, and the public, to gather input and ensure that transportation plans align with the needs and preferences of the community\nAssists with monitoring the progress of transportation projects and evaluate their effectiveness and make adjustments or improvements based on the feedback.\nAssists Directors and other senior leadership as assigned.\nEducation, Experience and Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Transportation, Urban Planning, Engineering, Landscape Architecture or related area, or equivalent\nTwo (2) years of applied experience in planning, evaluating and developing transportation improvement projects.\nExperience with graphical software and Microsoft Office desired.Familiarity with federal and state statutory and regulatory requirements, real estate, public and private financing practices required.\n\nKnowledge and Skills:\nExcellent written, verbal and visual graphic communications skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.\n\nMust be able to communicate and work well with staff and consultants inside and outside NJ TRANSIT, including key stakeholders as well as elected and appointed officials at the highest levels of government.\nKnowledge of transit-friendly and urban planning policies and principles, economic development and redevelopment practices, transportation planning principles and techniques.\nAt NJ TRANSIT you will enjoy a competitive salary and excellent benefit package:\nComprehensive Family Health Insurance -
