We are committed to delivering safe, reliable service that gets customers to their destinations on time-and we're looking to hire talented folks with a commitment to excellence to make it all possible.\nJob Title- Senior Maintenance Instructor\nSummary: Train new and current foremen, repairmen, service persons, and bus cleaners to ensure workers have the skills to maintain NJ TRANSIT equipment and/or facilities.\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nResearches, develops, implements, maintains and reviews maintenance training courses and related items. This includes working with manufacturers and vendors to learn computerized diagnostic software and design and execute technical training for all Maintenance employees.\nPresents formal maintenance training programs which lead to qualification of bus maintenance personnel repairmen and mechanics.\nConducts impromptu garage training as required to ensure proficiency in areas including but not limited to electric and hybrid propulsions, aftertreatment, air brakes, multiplex systems, storage batteries and HVAC. \nAssimilates new technology, including online training and manufacturer-provided web-based training, to course offerings.\nAudits vendor training to ensure quality and acquires training aids.\nAppraises and provides counsel for complex technical troubleshooting. Validates training objectives. Audits training result and makes suggestions to Maintenance Training management for adjustments as necessary.\nPerforms upkeep maintenance on training center equipment and training aids.\nInteracts with maintenance support groups as required to assist with maintenance procedures implementation.\nMust be self-motivated and team orientated.\nThis Position Supervises:\nMaintenance employees during training\nEducation, Experience and Qualifications:\nMinimum:\nHigh school diploma, or equivalent\nTwo (2) years of additional formal technical training (two (2) years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of technical training), plus at least five (5) years applicable experience in a DIESEL POWERED vehicle maintenance program.\nPreferred:\nAutomotive Service Excellence (ASE ) certification\nTwo (2) years in an instructional capacity is desired\nKnowledge and Skills:\nEssential:\nA complete understanding of 12 and 24 volt electrical circuitry. \nAbility to comprehend fully electric and hybrid propulsions, storage batteries, and HVAC systems. \nKnowledge of electronic controls including engines, transmissions, body controls, ABS and HVAC systems. \nProficiency in heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC, air brake systems, multiplex systems, hydraulics, aftertreatment, and pneumatics required.\nPreferred:\nKnowledge of computer based diagnostic software and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite software is desired.\nCertificates, Licenses, Registrations\nCDL A, license desirable.\nASE certification desirable\nWorking Environment\nClassroom, workshop, live garage.\nPhysical Demands\nMust be able to lift 50lbs\nHave Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down, climb stairs, work in confined areas.\nOther Conditions:\nBe able to work in a noisy fast paced environment.\nAt NJ Transit you will enjoy a competitive salary and excellent benefit package:\nSalary Range: $52,000 - $122,000\nComprehensive Family Health Insurance - Medical, Prescription, Dental, Vision \nFlexible Spending Account \nLife Insurance \nPaid Leave \nTuition Assistance \nPre-Tax Commuter Benefits Plan\nRetirement Plans401(a) - Retirement plan with a 6% employer contribution\n401(k) - Retirement saving plan with up to an 3% company match\n457(b) - Deferred Savings Plan\n\nNJ TRANSIT is an Equal Opportunity Employer.\nThis position is deemed safety sensitive per the Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
