This position will evaluate machine learning approaches and implement techniques for deep learning as applied to various storms over different watersheds.\nEssential Functions:\nEvaluate various machine learning approaches.\nImplement various techniques for deep learning as applied to various storms over different watersheds.\nForecast based on easily measurable quantities the water level and streamflows at various locations.\nProvide progress reports to Dr. Boufadel.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned or requested by the Center Director\nPrerequisite Qualifications:\nPhD in Computer Science, Data Science or equivalent or related disciplines.\nExperience working with research centers, government-funded environmental projects (e.g., NJDEP, EPA, NOAA).\nExperience with application of machine learning in Environmental projects.\nExperience collaborating with scientists, engineers, and community partners on outreach initiatives. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nAbility to work independently from the Center Director, and to communicate effectively using emails.\nEffective communication and writing skills.\nCompensation: $25-$50/hour\nAt the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.\nRange:\nHourly EmployeesNJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
