Under the direction and supervision of the Captain of Administrative Services, monitors the facility’s program assignments and serves as the case manager for adjudication operations while detainee is confined in the Detention Center.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES.\nCoordinate, but does not provide: counseling, educational, religious, and/or other services for the detainees and inmates.\n\nEnsure that established policies and procedures are followed in relation to the programs and services for detainees and inmates.\n\nWork with volunteers to schedule and facilitate informational material(s) for group educational purposes.\n\nNetwork with other community agencies, entities and educational organizations to increase the scope of services available for the detainees and inmates.\n\nCollaborate with outside agencies to provide and assist detainees with special programs and/or social activities for problems or other issues related to social functioning, substance abuse and/or crisis intervention.\n\nMonitor detainees on work release programs in accordance with established procedures and program requirements.\n\nPlan and attend meetings as required.\n\nCoordinate volunteers, work study students and student interns.\n\nCoordinate and assist the training division to ensure that training requirements are met for volunteers.\n\nMonitor and administer drug and alcohol tests on work release detainees and inmates; may conduct on- site checks throughout various locations in Doña Ana County.\n\nMaintain records, prepare reports and compose correspondence.\n\nMonitor inmate/detainee behavior to maintain order.\n\nAssist supervisor in the planning and implementation of long range projects related to inmate programs and services.\n\nAdvise/inform inmate of provider locations if referred by medical and mental health services upon discharge from facility.\n\nComply with PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) policies, regulations and statutory requirements.\n\nAct as PREA advocate for inmates and detainees.\n\nProvide PREA confidential crisis intervention, resources, support, information, and referrals.\n\nMonitor for retaliation against the victim and any witnesses or reporters.\n\nCommunicate with other PREA coordinated response members to coordinate services, while maintaining victim confidentiality.\n\nMaintain working relationships with facility staff and inmates, other County employees and representatives from other law enforcement and community agencies.\n\nADDITIONAL DUTIES. Other duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS.\nA. Education. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Community Health, or Corrections is preferred\nB. Experience. One (1) year minimum full-time work experience in Social Work, Social Services, Corrections, or directly-related field.\nC. Education/ Experience substitution. In accordance with County policy.\nD. Licenses/Certifications. Valid driver’s license. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy. Must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within six months of hire.\nE. Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Post-offer NCIC, polygraph, background check, and driver’s license record\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:\nKnowledge of:\nOrganizational structure, functions, procedures, and policies within the criminal justice system.\n\nFederal, state, and county laws, codes, regulations, and safety rules for operating in a detention center.\n\nSkill in:\nProficiency in engaging with the community organizations and social services.\n\nExperience in prevention and crisis intervention programs.\n\nUtilize necessary computer applications at an advanced level.\n\nHandling sensitive matters to maintain confidentiality of personal information on inmates and detainees.\n\nAbility to:\nEnforce facility rules and regulations in a positive manner.\n\nModel professional, creative problem-solving behaviors and attitudes towards detainees and staff.\n\nImplement goals, objectives, and practices from providing effective and efficient services.\n\nExercise and display constructive attitudes towards detainees and inmates.\n\nMake oral presentations to large groups.\n\nCommunicate effectively in oral and written form.\n\nEstablish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.\n\nMaintain accurate records.\n\nWork effectively in a detention center setting, applying laws and procedures correctly.\n\nCompensation Range\n$19.59 - $29.39Doña Ana County is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
