This position serves as the central communication link between thecustomer's manufacturing plant and the Sales Headquarters in Novi, Michigan, as well as global R&D and manufacturing facilities. The role focuses on ensuring successful product launches and ongoing operational continuity by providing on-site technical support during vehicle builds, trial runs, testing events, and rapid root-cause issue resolution on the factory floor.\nJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n1. Customer Liaison & On-Site Support\nServe as the primary quality and technical point of contact at the customer’s manufacturing facility, supporting prototype builds, pre-series runs, and massproduction.\nAssist customer engineering and plant personnel in diagnosing, benchmarking, and resolving vehicle assembly and integration issues.\nManage customer expectations while maintaining clear alignment with internal engineering and sales objectives.\n2.Diagnostics, Troubleshooting & Technical Leadership\nInvestigate, isolate, and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical, software,\nand access mechanism issues directly on vehicles or test benches.\nParticipate in detailed root-cause failure analyses (such as DFMEA, FTA,\nDRBFM) to determine defect origins and implement corrective actions. \nPerform immediate on-site containment actions to prevent assembly line\ndisruptions, including part exchanges, software/firmware flashing, and coordinating temporary engineering changes.\n3.Cross-Functional Communication & Documentation\nAct as the communication bridge between customer plant teams, internal\nR&D, and sales management in Novi, MI.\nMaintain comprehensive technical logs, issue-tracking reports, and quality\ntrend documentation to feed back into internal continuous improvement processes.\nTranslate plant-floor symptoms into actionable technical data for internal\ndesign and manufacturing teams.\n4.Compliance & Continuous Improvement\nEnsure all on-site activities comply with customer plant safety protocols, state\nand federal safety regulations, and internal company policies.\nTrack quality metrics, monitor issue resolution progress, and recommend\ndesign or process enhancements for future product lifecycles.\n5. Perform other related technical or quality support duties as assigned to support customer and operational needs.\nJOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES:\n1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,\nAutomotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field (or equivalent work experience).\n2. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in product design, field application engineering, R&D, or quality engineering within the automotive supply chain.\n3. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive electrical architectures, specifically CAN and LIN Bus communication protocols, as well as\nmechanical assembly/access mechanisms.\n4. Software & Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency with industry-standard vehicle\nnetwork analysis and diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANoe, vFlash).\n5. Problem-Solving Skills: Applied knowledge of engineering failure analysis\nmethods (DFMEA, 8D, or FTA) and the ability to perform under high-pressure manufacturing environments.\n6. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with \nexperience presenting technical solutions to internal and external leadership.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior direct experience supporting OEM assembly plant operations in the\nSpartanburg, SC area or an OEM assembly plant in general. \nProficiency with OEM-specific engineering and diagnostic tools (e.g., E-Sys, Tool64). \nHands-on experience with door access mechanisms, latch systems, or \nelectro-mechanical vehicle body components. \nSUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:\nNo supervisory qualifications are required for this position.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nA normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office, and ability to conduct a normal amount of work on a computer.\nSALARY\nAt NMB, the pay band for this role is between $85,729.00 and $128,594.00 annually, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay is a part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range of the pay band process.
