Perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist attending anesthesiologists, residents and nurse anesthetists in performing anesthetic procedures for patients ranging from infancy to geriatrics.\n2.2 Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies.\n Consult Operating Room schedule to determine supply and equipment needs for procedures.\n\nPrepare anesthetizing locations for indicated procedure to include setting up and calibrating monitoring devices.\n\nCheck, assess, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing non-functional equipment to the proper department for repair.\n\nAssist anesthesia providers using aseptic or sterile technique with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheral and/or central intravenous and/or arterial line placement.\n\nAssist anesthesia provider during airway management techniques including mask, endotracheal and/or emergency methods and regional anesthesia techniques.\n\nAssist anesthesia providers with physiological monitoring of patients, notifying the anesthesia provider(s) of abnormal changes in vital signs and/or physical appearance of the patient.\n\nClean anesthesia machines, monitors, and equipment following procedures established by Infection Control.\n\nStock anesthesia supplies in all anesthetizing locations including plows carts, fiber optic carts, emergency airway bags, and any other anesthesia supply location.\n\nObtain supplies and equipment as requested by anesthesia providers.\n\nAssist with patient laboratory tests and results including, but not limited to, ABGs, ACTs, and other point-of-care tests.\n\nObtain blood products and pharmaceuticals, assisting with preparation and delivery.\n\nMaintain immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures.\n\nMay act as a resource and role model for other anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, learners, and other health care team members by providing technical guidance and instruction as appropriate.\n\nMay provide verbal and written feedback of interviewees and peers as appropriate and as indicated by supervisor.\n\nMay serve as an instructor/facilitator of educational in-services for other anesthesia technicians.\n\nMay act as a role model for orientation and training of anesthesia technicians and other health care team members.\n\nMay assume anesthesia technician charge role in managing daily work schedule of anesthesia technicians and directing care to provide an efficient and safe environment.\n\nAcquire and/or maintain certification by obtaining annual continuing education requirements.\n\nLearn and keep current with the name of equipment, supplies, and pharmacological agents and be familiar with the locations of same.\n\nAssist anesthetists with starting I.V. infusion.\n\nShare “on call” rotation to provide assistance for emergency surgeries during other than normal hours, i.e., nights, weekends, and holidays.\n\nMaintain awareness of safety hazards and take necessary action to prevent accidents.\n\nAttend staff meetings as and when required on a regular basis.\n\nMaintain confidentiality of patient records and activities in the O.R.\n\nPerform miscellaneous duties as assigned by Unit Supervisor/Charge Nurse/or other Anesthetist.\n\nParticipate in any PI activities and scheduled continuing nursing education and updating.\n\nParticipate in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new techniques in Anesthesia.\n\nMaintain current knowledge of operating procedures and maintenance of new equipment.\n\nComply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply with those requirements.\n\nWork in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions and specific responsibilities.\n\nBe familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.\n\nNotify OSH of hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, and assist with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.\n\nComply with waste management procedures and policies.\n\nAttend applicable OSH/Infection Control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.\n\nUse appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.\n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nAbility to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a stressful environment, and often without relief.\n\nAbility to demonstrate knowledge relating to the anesthesia procedures in order to effectively anticipate the needs of the anesthesiologist.\n\nAbility to set priorities and respond appropriately to actual and/or potential life-threatening situations.\n\nCommunicate with patients while helping prepare them for anesthesia to explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit patient cooperation. Participate in non-charged calming conversations.\n\n Valid DOH License as Anesthesia Technologist / Technician to work in Abu Dhabi, UAE.\n\nBachelor's / Diploma in Anesthesia Technology from a recognized university.\n\nMinimum 3-4 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist / Technician in a multispecialty hospital facility.\n\nValid home country license and registration as an Anesthesia Technologist / Technician.\n\nExperience in various pain management technique modalities preferred.\n\nDemonstrate the ability to work in cordial conditions within a group practice in a hospital setting and as a member of a team.\n\nDemonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision.\n\nHave an excellent command of oral and written English.
