Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other transactional documents customary for a commercial real estate services firm.\n\n Essential Job Duties\nDraft and negotiate agreements, including engagement agreements for appraisal, property management, and project management, as well as other legal instruments to support and protect the Company's interests.\nProvide legal counsel and guidance to managers and real estate professionals relating to the Company's business activities.\nIdentify and analyze legal issues with an understanding of how to appropriately balance risk with the Company's ability to pursue its business interests.\nRespond promptly to the business with efficient and high-quality legal service.\nProvide strategic advice to business leaders and field operations teams.\nEngage with opposing counsel and external clients to negotiate transactions, while maintaining the Company's client-service philosophy.\n Skills, Education and Experience\nJuris Doctorate (JD) and active membership in good standing with the New York Bar, with a minimum of five years of experience practicing law.\nSubstantial experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.\nPrior experience in areas relevant to the Company's business such as appraisal, property management, or project management law (including on a multi-jurisdictional basis), or other commercial real estate services is a plus.\nExcellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.\nStrong, practical decision-making and leadership skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment.\nAbility to interact effectively with the Company's executives, professionals, staff, and other employees, as well as with legal colleagues and outside counsel.\nAbility to work collaboratively within a team environment.\nAbility to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents.\nExcellent drafting skills.\nStrong ability to solve problems and navigate a variety of options in complex situations.\nAbility to identify and respond effectively to sensitive business issues.\nIntermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.\nComfort and interest in integrating the use of AI into legal work and processes.\n\nSalary:\nThe expected base salary for this position ranges from $190,000 to $225,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package (including health, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching), this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).\n\nWorking Conditions:\nNormal working conditions with the absence of disagreeable elements.
