Our work demands reliability, robustness, and readiness for the unexpected-on time, every time. We're assembling a mission-driven team focused on delivering real impact in heavy industry, from construction and mining to energy. If you're driven to build rugged, reliable products that solve real-world problems, we'd love to talk.\nPosition Overview\nAt Noble Machines, building robots is a team sport. As a Robotics Autonomy Engineer, you'll take ownership and lead the development of autonomy systems that power our multipurpose robots across diverse and unstructured environments. You'll design, implement, and optimize cutting-edge localization, mapping, navigation, and SLAM systems-including advanced techniques such as 3D Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, and other neural or volumetric methods-that enable our robots to perceive, understand, and act in the real world with confidence.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and maintain real-time mapping, localization, and navigation software for mobility robotic systems\nBuild scalable SLAM pipelines using a mix of sensors, including LiDAR, vision, and IMU\nImplement 3D scene representations using cutting-edge techniques such as 3D Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, and other neural or volumetric methods\nIntegrate localization and mapping modules with motion planning and control systems\nDeploy robust autonomy stacks to on-board compute platforms and validate them in both simulation and real-world testing\nAnalyze and tune performance of perception and SLAM systems in challenging environments\nCollaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to develop co-designed autonomy solutions\nWrite clean, modular, production-quality code with thorough documentation and testing\nOperate and support robots during field testing and customer deployment\nRequirements\n4+ years of experience working in robotics, autonomy, or a closely related field\nStrong foundation in SLAM, probabilistic localization, 3D reconstruction, and navigation algorithms\nDeep experience with C++ and Python, especially in real-time robotics or embedded systems\nExperience building and deploying autonomy stacks using frameworks such as ROS or ROS2\nProven ability to develop algorithms for sensor fusion and state estimation (e.g., EKF, UKF, particle filters)\nHands-on experience with real robot systems-ground, legged, or aerial platforms\nFamiliarity with 3D mapping techniques including voxel grids, mesh reconstruction, and Gaussian Splatting\nDemonstrated rapid growth and technical ownership on complex autonomy projects\nAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines\nNice to Have\nExperience with GPU-accelerated vision or perception pipelines (CUDA, TensorRT)\nExposure to deep learning-based SLAM, view synthesis, or scene understanding techniques\nExperience with multirobot SLAM, loop closure, or graph optimization frameworks\nContributions to open-source robotics or perception libraries\nComfort debugging hardware/software integration in field settings\nExperience with autonomy in unstructured or GPS-denied environments\nStrong understanding of simulation frameworks (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unity Robotics)\nTo apply, submit your resume here or email  . To increase your chances of being selected for an interview, we encourage you to include a public portfolio of your most representative work featuring your individual contributions and public demonstrations of autonomy or SLAM systems.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3740,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-25T21:04:59Z"}],"liveness":{"score":5,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.164,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":215,"expected_fill_days":18,"reasons":["conf:6","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/noblemachines-autonomy-software-engineer-mapping-and-localization","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/noblemachines-autonomy-software-engineer-mapping-and-localization.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T09:21:57Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"search","counted_by":"address","units_charged":0,"used_today":0,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":null,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
