Our work demands reliability, robustness, and readiness for the unexpected-on time, every time. We're assembling a mission-driven team focused on delivering real impact in heavy industry, from construction and mining to energy. If you're driven to build rugged, reliable products that solve real-world problems, we'd love to talk.\nPosition Overview\nAt Noble Machines, building robots is a team sport. As a mechanical engineer, you'll take ownership and lead the development of advanced electro-mechanical systems powering multipurpose humanoid robots in the real world. You'll design, build, document, and maintain state of the art hardware systems that enable robots to move freely across diverse environments and perform useful manipulation tasks.\nResponsibilities\nDrive design and development of mechanical systems across the robot\nUse your technical knowledge to execute on structural sizing, mechanism design, hardware fabrication, and testing to deliver results on projects\nPartner with peer design owners such as interfacing systems and or avionics and structures to rapidly deliver integrated systems and subsystems on the robots\nConduct design reviews with stakeholders and customers\nManage on-site integration teams and implement integration feedback into the design\nDiagnose and operate robot mechanisms during development and deployed operations\nPerform engineering hand calculations and analysis to size structures and mechanisms\nCreate detailed models and engineering prints in SolidWorks\nBuild and prototype systems in the lab\nCollaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to drive software-hardware co-design\nDesign and build test equipment for both subsystem and complete system tests\nRequirements\n4+ years of total experience in one or more of the following: involvement with an outside of the classroom project designing and building mechanical structures; academic research on mechanical structures; professional experience designing and analyzing mechanical structures\nExperience building hardware or have a passion for contributing to a work product that operates in the real world\nDemonstrated rapid growth. You've held successive positions of increasing responsibility within an organization, were able to get yourself up to speed at a heroic pace, and accomplished something meaningfully difficult early in your career\nExperience using a high-end CAD software design package (e.g. NX, CATIA, Solidworks, etc.) SolidWorks Preferred\nExperience designing and validating large metallic structures and or mechanisms\nAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment\nUnderstanding of design considerations including design for rapid manufacturability, design of tests etc.\nAbility to work in a collaborative team environment with engineers, technicians, and leaders\nNice to Have\nAbility to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment\nExperience working in a production facility with equipment and machinery\nExperience managing large CAD assembly models and drawings\nExperience with finite element analysis\nExperience designing and fabricating mass efficient structures\nExperience designing and testing mechanisms\nExperience design and specification of motors and actuators\nStrong understanding and application of GD&T\nTo increase your chances of being selected for an interview, we encourage you to include a public portfolio of your most representative work featuring your individual contributions and public hardware demonstrations.\nCalifornia Pay Transparency Statement\nPay Transparency & Compensation: In accordance with California's Pay Transparency Act (SB 1162), the expected base salary range for this position located in Sunnyvale, CA is $110,000 - $250,000 per year.\nActual compensation within this range will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, technical skills, and specialized expertise.
