We are looking for experienced firmware development engineer in Optical Domain. In this role, you'll join a dynamic firmware team dedicated to enhancing Nokia’s next-generation Optical line system products like ROADM, EDFA, Raman etc., for long-haul and metro applications. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll design and implement innovative solutions that tackle complex problems in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing transport products. - Design, implement, and test code for next-generation Optical line system firmware products like ROADM, EDFA, Raman etc., used in optical network deployments.
- Develop and maintain Firmware Requirement and Design documents.
- Collaborate with optical, hardware, FPGA, software, manufacturing, and test teams for seamless integration.
- Provide knowledge transfer to manufacturing processes.
- Debug and resolve customer issues effectively.
- Contribute to testing documentation to ensure product quality and compliance.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on architectural decisions.
- Continuously seek improvements in firmware development processes and methodologies.
- BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Computer Science, Electronics and communications engineering or related field
- 3 to 5 years of embedded software development experience in a multithreaded real-time environment
- Strong C/C++ programming skills, system understanding, and debugging abilities are required.
- Candidate must be a quick-learner and self-starter, energetic, flexible and positive
- Hands-on experience in developing firmware, participating in requirement gathering, design and test plan reviews
- Hands-on experience in using test equipment such as traffic generators, JTAG debuggers
- Proficiency in Linux and C/C++ in embedded systems including micro controller-based systems.
- Experience with device driver development for Linux or Real-Time Operating Systems
- Knowledge of hardware interfaces and protocols (I²C, SPI, Ethernet, PCIe)
- Hands-on experience in hardware bring-up and Uboot bootloader
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills are critical
- Familiarity with Docker, JIRA, bit-bucket, and confluence is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience in working collaboratively with a geographically separated team
- Familiarity with RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, etc.)
- Basic understanding of electronics schematics and hardware design

- Experience with scripting languages
