Nokia is a Finnish telecommunications equipment company founded in 1865 as a paper mill, which became the world's largest mobile phone maker in the 1990s before selling that business to Microsoft in 2014. It now supplies network infrastructure to operators and enterprises, covering radio access equipment for mobile networks, optical and IP routing for transport networks, fixed broadband access, and a technologies division that licenses its cellular patent portfolio. Headquartered in Espoo and listed in Helsinki and New York, it runs Nokia Bell Labs as its research arm and has been expanding into data centre networking as operator spending has slowed.
We are seeking a talented and passionate HW Engineer to join our Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) team, based in our Dallas R&D center. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in pushing the boundaries of DPD algorithm accuracy and addressing dynamic PA behavior. Your expertise will bridge the gap between the DPD team and HW design, ensuring seamless collaboration and an exceptional end product.
  • Lead the development of cutting-edge DPD algorithms, focusing on modeling accuracy and wide bandwidth.
  • Address dynamic PA behavior challenges, ensuring optimal performance under varying signal excitations.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the DPD and HW design teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Analyze radio products to select the most suitable DPD engine, ensuring a tailored approach for each product.
  • Work closely with the radio HW design team to meet DPD requirements, including DFE, AFE, and feedback path considerations.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to the DPD team, contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Participate in troubleshooting sessions, applying your expertise to solve problems across the radio lifecycle.
  • Develop a deep understanding of DFE architecture to effectively implement DPD designs.
  • Implement production-grade DPD SW on radio HW, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of radios for DPD and HW robustness, verifying performance under dynamic and static conditions.
  • Advanced knowledge of modeling nonlinear systems and graduate-level digital signal processing.
  • Proficiency in numerical linear algebra, RF power amplifier design, and RF circuit and systems.
  • Solid understanding of modern wireless communication systems, 3GPP, and FCC standards.
  • Experience with FPGA or ASIC design and programming.
  • Strong programming skills in Matlab, Python, and C++. Familiarity with Git for version control.
  • Excellent data analysis and visualization abilities, with a focus on interpreting complex data.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in HW development or a related field, with a focus on radio products.
  • A proven track record of successful HW design and implementation, preferably in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
