as target power profiles and OSNR estimation\n\nPartnering with the product documentation team to describe features and operational concepts for customers\n\nLeading cross-functional feature teams to build consensus on architecture and technical concepts, and influencing their plans and priorities\n\nRepresenting these feature areas in technical engagements and demonstrations with key customers\n\nMentoring engineers and architects on the team\n\n Knowledge / Skills / Abilities\nDeep understanding of fiber transmission effects, such as power and OSNR evolution and fiber nonlinearities, and their impact on optical line system design\n\nHands-on experience with optical networking equipment, including coherent transponders, EDFAs, Raman amplifiers and ROADM/WSS, and knowledge of OTN, Ethernet and SDN/GMPLS control plane\n\nExperience designing and validating closed- and open-loop, link-level control algorithms and optical performance monitoring to optimize end-to-end transmission\n\nBroad systems expertise, with a track record of writing and leading high-quality requirements and architecture specifications for robust, reliable end-to-end systems\n\nExtensive experience defining fault, performance and configuration management, service provisioning and control plane requirements for multi-layer networking products, especially at L0 and L1\n\nWorking knowledge of data models for operating and monitoring optical networks, including YANG, ONF TAPI, OpenROADM and OpenConfig\n\nFamiliarity with the SONiC Optical Transport Network Working Group, including the Optical Transport Abstraction Interface (OTAI)\n\nSound, independent judgment on ambiguous and novel technical problems\n\nExcellent communication and presentation skills for internal and customer audiences\n\nHighly motivated collaborator, effective in cross-functional, cross-cultural and international teams\n\nEducation & Experience Requirements:\nPh.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Optics, Physics or a related field + minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in optical transport or a related telecommunications area\n\nM.Sc.
