The Staff Quality Assurance Engineer is a core member of a cross-functional Scrum team, driving the overall quality strategy for advanced Nokia optical networking solutions. In this senior role, you will influence product architecture, guide best-in-class test practices, and ensure quality is embedded throughout the entire R&D lifecycle. You will mentor team members, lead complex quality initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement across multiple Agile teams in a multicultural, collaborative environment.

The position covers the full Product R&D lifecycle, including:

• Active participation in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily scrums, reviews, and retrospectives-bringing a strong quality mindset to requirement analysis, design discussions, acceptance criteria definition, early risk identification, and overall testability.
• Design, development, and execution of automated tests using Python and pytest, fully aligned with the team’s Definition of Done.
• Application of AI-assisted testing techniques, including LLM-supported test design, automated test generation, synthetic test data creation, and failure pattern analysis to enhance coverage, regression efficiency, and feedback speed.
• Continuous improvement of test strategies and QA practices, including contributions to automation frameworks and modernization of Agile quality processes.

• Strong understanding of optical transmission fundamentals and system-level networking concepts.
• Advanced proficiency in Python-based test automation, including pytest, object-oriented test design, and CI/CD integration.
• Experience with AI/ML techniques applied to software quality, including:
  • AI-assisted test automation
  • Intelligent defect detection or result interpretation
  • AI-driven methods to scale test coverage or accelerate regression
• Proven ability to lead quality initiatives, influence design decisions, and collaborate effectively with developers, product owners, and architects.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to guide discussions, document strategies, and share knowledge across teams.
• High degree of ownership, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.

Requirements

• MSc or BSc in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics, or related technical field.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• ISTQB certification is considered an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in large-scale automation, test frameworks, or AI-assisted testing.
• Strong commitment to continual learning and applying emerging technologies to improve software quality.
