You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Product Line Management (PLM), Sales, Optical Engineering, and Software Engineering, directly contributing to Nokia's strategic vision.\n As a Network Planning Engineer, you will:\n Solution Design: Drive the development of comprehensive network designs and optimization strategies in response to critical Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) initiatives.\n Technical Authority: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for network planning, providing guidance and support during network planning, implementation, and deployment phases.\nTechnology Evaluation: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of vendor and internal technical specifications to recommend appropriate products and functionalities that align with evolving network requirements.\nArchitectural Innovation: Leverage expertise in network transition strategies to recommend optimal architectural designs for new products and platforms.\nStrategic Analysis: Perform rigorous analysis of network designs and assess the economic impact of various roadmap candidate features to construct compelling business cases.\nEnablement & Automation: Develop advanced tools and methodologies to empower sales engineers in efficiently designing and optimizing network solutions for diverse customer needs.\nEconomic & Technology Foresight: Conduct economic analyses of diverse networking architectural approaches and models, while also evaluating the applicability and potential of emerging networking technologies.\n Education: Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Physics is required. A PhD degree is preferred.\n Industry Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in network planning, optimization or architecture. 3+ years of hands-on experience with 3rd party network design tools (OPNET, VPISystems, RSoft etc.) is desirable.\nCarrier Network Knowledge: Proven working knowledge of carrier-class networking architecture and systems, including deep understanding of technologies such as WDM, IP/MPLS/GMPLS/Ethernet.\nFunctional Background: functional experience within either sales engineering or product management.\n Scripting Proficiency: experience in scripting (Excel, MATLAB, Python, etc.) for automation and data analysis.\nTechnical Skills (Must-Have):\nOptical Engineering: Expertise in Optical Link Budget Engineering and advanced modeling of optical network performance, including Non-Linear simulation and analysis.\nCapacity Planning: Knowledge of Capacity Planning optimization and Layer 1 networking principles.\nScripting: Excellent scripting capabilities, advanced Excel proficiency, and SQL experience.\nStandards & Trends: Familiarity with current industry standards and emerging trends in telecommunications.\nTechnical Skills (Desirable):\nDWDM Systems: Prior experience in Provisioning, Installation, and Testing of DWDM systems.\n Programming Languages: Familiarity with Relational Databases, Perl, C++, Java, Visual Basic, .NET, etc.\nKnowledge of Nokia’s platforms and planning tools (1830PSS/WS-P or 1830GX/TNPS) is a big plus.\nSoft Skills:\nAutonomy & Collaboration: Proven ability to work independently and with remote and global teams.\nProblem-Solving: Exceptional problem definition and problem-solving skills, coupled with sound judgment.\nAnalytical Acumen: Strong analytical capabilities to dissect complex problems and derive actionable insights.\nCommunication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.\n Agility & Prioritization: Attention to detail and ability to rapidly prioritize tasks and deliver timely responses to internal and external
