Nomad GCS does not support the H1B Visa for this position.\nPosition:IT Engineering Technician\nDivision:Innovative Solutions Group\nDepartment:IT Engineering\nStatus:Full-time\nOverview: The IT Engineering Technician supports the deployment, configuration, testing, integration, and lifecycle support of Nomad Total Command (NTC) hardware and related systems, as well as the configuration and testing of IT Engineering (ITE) hardware and software. Working closely with IT Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Service, this role executes engineering-defined processes while ensuring hardware is correctly configured, validated, documented, and supported throughout production and deployment.\nThe IT Engineering Technician serves as the primary technical resource responsible for hardware configuration, firmware deployment, production support, system validation, and field troubleshooting. The primary responsibility is supporting NTC systems, with secondary responsibilities as set forth below and to be completed as time is available.\nEssential Responsibilities:\nPrimary Responsibilities - NTC Hardware Support\nNTC Hardware Configuration & Deployment\nConfigure NTC hardware according to engineering documentation and customer requirements.\nFlash firmware onto embedded controllers, sensors, communication modules, and supporting hardware.\nVerify firmware revisions and hardware compatibility prior to deployment.\nApply engineering-approved system configurations and configuration files.\nPrepare production-ready NTC hardware for manufacturing and customer projects.\nVerify configured systems meet engineering and production requirements before release.\nUse configuration tools to produce configuration files for NTC.\nHardware Integration\nInstall or assist with installation of embedded controllers, sensors, operator interfaces, networking hardware, and supporting equipment.\nAssemble prototype systems and engineering test hardware.\nVerify wiring, communication networks, connectors, and power distribution.\nTesting & Validation\nExecute engineering-developed functional and validation test procedures.\nTest hardware on dedicated test boards before delivery to production while documenting results and raising issues with Engineering.\nAssist with production acceptance testing of NTC hardware.\nVerify communication across CAN, Ethernet, serial, and other embedded communication networks.\nCollect diagnostic information, system logs, and test results.\nAssist with environmental, vehicle, production, and field validation testing.\nDocument testing results and report abnormalities to Engineering.\nProduction Support\nSupport Production during NTC hardware installation and commissioning.\nTroubleshoot routine hardware configuration issues using established engineering procedures.\nEscalate hardware design or software-related issues to Engineering.\nVerify customer systems prior to shipment.\nOccasional travel to Libby, MT to support NTC production, integration, and commissioning activities.\nPerform basic field support activities, including firmware updates, hardware configuration, and routine troubleshooting, while escalating complex technical issues to Engineering.\nTroubleshooting & Field Support\nTroubleshoot NTC hardware, wiring, connectors, sensors, communication devices, and supporting electronics.\nReplace defective hardware modules and verify system operation.\nCollect information supporting engineering root cause investigations.\nSupport field personnel during installation and service activities.\nDocument corrective actions and recurring issues.\nDocumentation & Configuration Management\nMaintain hardware configuration records.\nRecord firmware revisions and hardware versions.\nDocument production changes and hardware modifications.\nUpdate troubleshooting documentation and assembly procedures.\nMaintain engineering build records and configuration history.\nAssist with engineering-developed hardware configuration automation tools.\nCross Functional Support\nSupport Embedded Systems Engineering during prototype development.\nSupport Embedded Systems Engineering during hardware integration activities.\nCoordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and Field Service to resolve hardware-related issues.\nParticipate in project meetings as needed and document technical action items.\nAssist Engineering with prototype assembly, validation, and deployment.\nSecondary Responsibilities - ITE Hardware & Software Support\nConfigure, deploy, and maintain hardware, firmware, and system configurations in accordance with engineering and customer requirements.\nInstall, integrate, and validate ITE released designs to include networking equipment, audio visual equipment, surveillance equipment, radio equipment, satellite equipment, and security equipment.\nPerform hardware provisioning, firmware updates, software configuration, and system commissioning activities.\nExecute functional, validation, acceptance, and communication testing while documenting results and escalating issues as needed.\nTroubleshoot hardware, connectivity, configuration, and system performance issues using established support procedures.\nCollect and analyze diagnostic logs, firmware versions, and system data to support problem resolution and root cause investigations.\nProvide production, manufacturing, and field support during installation, deployment, and commissioning activities.\nSupport end users, field technicians, and cross-functional teams with technical issue resolution and system troubleshooting.\nMaintain configuration management records, asset documentation, firmware inventories, and deployment histories.\nCoordinate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Service teams to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.\nAssist with prototype development, system integration, testing, and deployment of new technologies and hardware solutions.\nSupport automation tools, technical documentation, knowledge bases, and troubleshooting procedures to improve operational efficiency.\nVerify system readiness and operational performance prior to customer delivery and production release.\nProvide remote and onsite technical support, including occasional travel for deployment, integration, maintenance, and support activities.\nQualifications:\nAssociate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Electronics Technology, Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field.\nExperience troubleshooting electronic or computer-based systems.\nAbility to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.\nExperience flashing firmware and configuring embedded hardware preferred.\nFamiliarity with networking fundamentals including Ethernet and TCP/IP.\nExperience using diagnostic equipment including multimeters and other electronic test equipment.\nStrong organizational and documentation skills.\nAbility to work independently while following engineering procedures.\nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to stand and sit for extended periods.\nManual dexterity to operate office equipment.\nOccasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.\nOccasional climbing or hands-on testing activities. \nAbility to work in office, shop, and vehicle environments as needed. \nAbility to work safely around energized systems when required.\nMust be able to travel as needed on occasion.\nWorking Environment:\nCombination of office, production floor, and vehicle-based environments.\nExposure to manufacturing noise, electrical equipment, and testing environments.\nPPE required when entering production or testing areas.\n\nNomad GCS is an equal opportunity employer, (EOE,) and voluntarily follows affirmative action guidelines.
