You will work closely with engineering, product, operations, and business leaders to turn complex requirements into reliable, scalable solutions.\nThis is a senior individual-contributor role for an engineer who can establish technical direction, solve ambiguous problems, raise engineering standards, and help distributed teams deliver successfully.\nWhat You’ll Do\nEstablish the technical direction and architecture for complex applications and platform capabilities.\nPartner with product managers and business stakeholders to evaluate implementation options, clarify tradeoffs, and define practical delivery plans.\nLead projects through the complete software development lifecycle, from discovery and system design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.\nDesign and build highly available healthcare and payment applications using Go, TypeScript, React, and AWS services.\nBreak large, ambiguous initiatives into well-defined technical workstreams that distributed engineering teams can execute.\nIdentify architectural risks, dependencies, failure modes, and operational requirements before implementation begins.\nReview system designs and code to ensure solutions are reliable, secure, maintainable, testable, and cost-effective.\nEstablish and reinforce engineering practices related to automated testing, observability, idempotency, performance, security, and fault tolerance.\nDiagnose complex production issues and lead technical efforts to restore service and prevent recurrence.\nMentor engineers and help them develop stronger skills in system design, problem-solving, and technical decision-making.\nIdentify reusable components, patterns, and platform capabilities that improve delivery across teams.\nStay current with emerging technologies and help the organization adopt tools and practices that create meaningful engineering leverage.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nMinimum Qualifications\n8+ years of professional software development experience.\n5+ years of experience testing, launching, and supporting production software.\n3+ years of experience designing software systems and defining application or platform architecture.\nExperience leading technically complex projects involving multiple engineers or teams.\nStrong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, automated testing, and production operations.\nExperience developing cloud-based applications in a high-availability or high-throughput environment.\nAbility to communicate technical decisions, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience building production services with Go.\nExperience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, EventBridge, Step Functions, and Secrets Manager.\nExperience with serverless and event-driven architectures.\nExperience with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Temporal, MongoDB, Snowflake, or Bazel.\nExperience in healthcare, fintech, payments, claims processing, or other regulated industries.\nFamiliarity with payment rails such as ACH, wires, checks, or virtual cards.\nExperience leading architecture reviews or setting technical standards across multiple teams.\nExperience using AI-assisted or agentic development tools to improve software delivery.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nA successful Staff Software Engineer at Nomi Health does more than deliver individual features.
