The team builds and runs platforms underpinning Nomura's global Prime Brokerage offering, spanning both Cash Prime Brokerage (CPB) and Synthetic Prime Brokerage (SPB). Nomura is making significant strategic investment in its Prime Brokerage franchise, with multi-million dollar technology investment driving the expansion of CPB and SPB capabilities globally. Joining this team means contributing directly to that growth agenda, working on systems that are central to the firm's Prime strategy.\nRole Description:\nResponsibilities include:\nOwn end-to-end technical delivery of complex platform initiatives, remaining hands-on with coding and design.\nSet technical direction and engineering standards, mentoring junior and mid-level engineers across the team.\nChampion a test-first culture, ensuring automated testing at scale is built into the pipeline, not retrofitted.\nDrive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling and delivery methodology across the platform.\nLead engagement with business analysts, business stakeholders and production support to shape robust solutions.\nTake ownership of production issues and major incidents, actively participating in incident calls when required.\nProactively identify, escalate and manage technical and delivery risks across the platform.\nSkills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:\nExtensive hands-on software development experience in Java, with a strong track record of delivering complex systems at scale.\nDeep expertise in automated testing methodologies, including embedding test automation and TDD practices into CI/CD pipelines.\nStrong technical background across database, messaging/queueing, cloud and observability technologies, with the ability to ramp up quickly on specific tools.\nDemonstrated experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers, without necessarily holding formal line management responsibility.\nStrong stakeholder management skills, engaging confidently with business analysts, business stakeholders and senior partners.\nExperience taking ownership of production issues and major incidents, including active participation in incident calls.\nTrack record of driving continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling and delivery methodology.\nExperience within financial services or Prime Brokerage is beneficial but not essential.\nNomura Leadership Behaviours\nExplore Insights & Vision: Identify the underlying causes of problems faced by you or your team and define a clear vision and direction for the future.\nMaking Strategic Decisions: Evaluate all the options for resolving the problems and effectively prioritize actions or recommendations.\nInspire Entrepreneurship in People: Inspire team members through effective communication of ideas and motivate them to actively enhance productivity.\nElevate Organizational Capability: Engage proactively in professional development and enhance team productivity through the promotion of knowledge sharing.\n Inclusion: Respect DEI, foster a culture of inclusion and psychological safety in the workplace and cultivate a \"Risk Culture\" (Challenge, Escalate and Respect).\nRight to Work\nThe UK Government have taken steps to reduce net migration to the UK by limiting the number of overseas workers coming to the UK for employment.
