Since then, we’ve tripled ARR each year for 3 years running and grown a high-caliber team turning the art of sales into a scalable science.\nAbout the role:\nLocation: Hybrid / 3 days Onsite - San Francisco, CA\nWe’re looking for a detail-oriented and ambitious People Operations Generalist to to help build and run the People infrastructure that supports our team as we scale. You’ll own and support many of the operational programs employees interact with throughout their time at Nooks - including HRIS, onboarding, benefits, leaves, immigration, Total Rewards administration, and employee lifecycle operations.\nThis role is a great fit for someone who loves making complicated things simple. You’re highly organized, operationally rigorous, and genuinely care about creating a great employee experience. You notice when something doesn’t work, dig into why, and build a better process rather than accepting unnecessary friction.\nAs Nooks scales, you’ll help us make sure our People operations scale with it - without losing the speed, thoughtfulness, and employee experience that matter to us.\nWhat you'll do:\nOwn and develop core people operations processes, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits, compliance, and employee lifecycle management.\n\nServe as a trusted resource for employees and managers navigating People programs, policies, and systems.\n\nHelp own our HRIS and broader People tech stack, including system configuration, employee data, workflows, integrations, reporting, and troubleshooting.\n\nOwn the operational side of onboarding and ensure every new hire has a smooth experience from signed offer through their first weeks at Nooks.\n\nAdminister benefits programs and support employees with enrollment, eligibility, qualifying life events, and benefits questions.\n\nManage employee leaves and accommodations in partnership with employees, managers, vendors, and Legal as needed.\n\nOwn the operational coordination of our immigration program in partnership with external immigration counsel.\n\nPoint of contact for employee questions and matters related to benefits, onboarding, immigration, leaves of absence, and time off.\n\nEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws - and stay ahead of changes that impact our business and people.\n\nOther People or general operations responsibilities as required by the People team on an ad-hoc basis.\n\nWe're looking for someone who has:\n3+ years of practical experience in a People or HR-related role - ideally in a high-growth startup environment.\n\nDetail-oriented and data-driven mindset - ability to identify potential areas of improvement in our operational cadence.\n\nStrong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple recurring processes, deadlines, and employee needs simultaneously.\n\nExperience owning or significantly contributing to employee onboarding and lifecycle operations.\n\nWorking knowledge of employee leaves and core employment compliance requirements.\n\nExperience administering employee benefits and partnering with benefits brokers and vendors.\n\nSystem-mindset - look for ways to simplify, automate, document, and improve processes\n\nProactivity in problem-solving - you don’t just spot gaps; you fill them.\n\nNice to haves:\nKnowledge of HR compliance and regulations.\n\nDirect involvement in scaling startups from early-stage to larger organizational structures.\n\nExperience with HRIS systems, people analytics tools, and large datasets.\n\nYou might be a great fit if:\nYou care about both sides of People Operations: operational rigor and employee experience.
