This role serves as a subject matter expert for manufacturing processes and equipment, utilizing advanced engineering principles, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize process capability and operational performance. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer works with minimal supervision, independently drives strategic improvement efforts, and provides technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead complex process engineering projects from concept through implementation, including capital equipment, automation, and process optimization initiatives.\nServe as a technical expert for manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and process controls.\nIdentify, analyze, and resolve complex manufacturing issues using advanced problem-solving and statistical techniques.\nLead cross-functional teams in support of operational excellence, new product introduction, cost reduction, quality improvement, and capacity expansion initiatives.\nDevelop and implement advanced process controls, monitoring systems, and best practices to improve process capability and reduce variation.\nDrive continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.\nProvide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers, technicians, operators, and other functional teams.\nEvaluate and justify capital expenditure through technical and financial analysis.\nSupport strategic manufacturing objectives through data-driven decision making and long-term process improvement planning.\nDevelop, standardize, and document manufacturing processes, work instructions, and engineering standards.\nCollaborate with product development teams to ensure manufacturability and robust process implementation.\nLead risk assessments, PFMEA activities, process validation efforts, and corrective action investigations.\nManage multiple complex projects simultaneously while achieving established objectives and deadlines.\nAct as a technical resource across departments and manufacturing sites.\nAll other duties as assigned.\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline required.\nMust have a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience\nDemonstrated experience leading significant process improvement, automation, capital equipment, or operational excellence projects.\nWorking knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations. Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification is a plus.\nBilingual in Spanish a plus\nSKILLS & ABILITIES\nFlexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to manage multiple priorities with minimal direction.\nExcellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments\nExperience leading focused improvement or Kaizen projectsInjection Molding experience preferred\nStrong SolidWorks or other design software experience preferred\nAbility to create and interpret engineering drawings per applicable industry standards\nUnderstanding of various manufacturing methods (machining, molding, sheet metal, etc.).\nThe ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented business environment and a flexible professional demeanor and self-directed work approach\nProficient with Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, etc.\nAbility to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to this position and safety\nExperience with programmable logic controllers, ladder logic, and other machine control systems a plus\n\nWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS\nOffice, lab & manufacturing environment. In addition to Paid Time Off and paid Holidays, each employee receives 16 hours paid time each calendar year to perform volunteer services for Nordson-sponsored events.
