This role provides both leadership and technical direction, ensuring mobile solutions are secure, scale, reliable and align with the company enterprise architecture and business priorities.\nThe Manager will oversee the complete mobile software development lifecycle, establish engineering standards and best practices, manage delivery across multiple initiatives and develop a high-performance engineering team. The role serves as the primary point of accountability for the mobile portfolio with the organization.\nResponsibilities:\nLead a team of mobile developers and engineers responsible for enterprise iOS, Android and cross-platform applications.\nManage employee performance by conducting regular performance reviews, training, and coaching for performance discrepancies.\nBuild a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.\nEnsure the team has the appropriate skills and capacity to support current commitments and future mobile technology needs.\nLead multiple project teams that oversee all aspects of systems development lifecycle, including project initiation, analysis & design, development & testing, implementation, and documentation.\nMonitoring and forecasting of capital and expense budgets.\nProvide technical leadership and guidance on application architecture, APIs, authentication, cloud integration, security, performance, and scalability.\nPartner with Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, Cloud, API, UX/UI, Data, and other engineering teams to ensure mobile solutions align with enterprise technology standards.\nDrive modernization of the mobile technology stack, including cloud migration, platform upgrades, technical debt reduction, and application rationalization.\nEvaluate emerging mobile technologies, frameworks, AI capabilities, and development tools that can improve engineering productivity and user experience.\nManage competing priorities, engineering capacity, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments across multiple projects\nEnsure appropriate Agile/DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, release management, and production support processes are followed.\nPartner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate business needs into executable technology roadmaps.\nJob Related Experience\nMinimum Level: 3-5 years\nPreferred Level: 6-10 years\nEducation Required\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology , Computer Engineering or related discipline.\nSkills Required\n7+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience developing or supporting mobile applications.\n3+ years of experience or exposure to leading software engineers, development teams, or technical delivery teams.\nExperience with modern mobile development technologies and architecture.\nExperience with native and/or cross-platform mobile development frameworks such as Swift/iOS, Kotlin/Android, React Native, or Ionic/Capacitor.\nExperience with REST APIs, authentication authorization, cloud platforms, application security, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices.\nExperience with Agile software development practices.\nProven experience with communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and software decision-making skills.\nSkills Desired\nExperience with AWS or other major cloud platforms.\nExperience modernizing legacy mobile applications and migrating applications or services to cloud platforms.\nExperience integrating mobile applications with enterprise platforms such as SAP, ServiceNow, Salesforce, or other SaaS solutions.\nUnderstanding of AI-assisted software engineering and opportunities to incorporate AI capabilities into mobile applications and development processes.\nWork Conditions\nEnvironment: Hybrid on-site (2) days and (3) remote days per week.\nShift Work: No\nOn-Call: Yes\nWeekend Work: Yes, on as needed basis\nCompany Overview\nSince 1827, Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC) and its predecessor companies have safely moved the goods and materials that drive the U.S. economy.
