The role provides technical governance and strategic direction to operational teams, ensuring all building services are maintained safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory, client, and BGIS requirements.\nThe successful candidate will be the technical subject matter expert for the account, driving engineering excellence, asset reliability, compliance, mobilisation activities, and technical innovation whilst supporting operational delivery and client relationships.\nKey Responsibilities Technical LeadershipProvide technical leadership across the building, ensuring delivery of all hard services in accordance with contractual obligations and statutory requirements.\nAct as the primary technical advisor to operational teams, clients, and senior stakeholders.\nDevelop and implement engineering strategies to improve asset performance, reliability, and building resilience.\nDrive best practice, innovation, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement across all sites.\nCompliance & GovernanceEnsure full compliance with all statutory regulations, industry standards, and BGIS policies.\nMaintain oversight of electrical, mechanical, and building systems compliance activities.\nSupport and audit Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Permit to Work processes, and engineering procedures.\nMonitor critical environment compliance and business continuity arrangements.\nReview and manage risk registers, engineering audits, and remedial action plans.\nOperational SupportSupport Account Managers and Engineering Managers in delivering service excellence across all locations.\nProvide technical guidance during major incidents, critical failures, and root cause investigations.\nReview engineering performance data and ensure corrective actions are implemented where required.\nEnsure adequate staffing, competency levels, and succession planning are maintained.\nMobilisation & ProjectsLead technical mobilisation activities for new contracts and service expansions.\nSupport project delivery teams on engineering upgrades, asset replacement programmes, and energy initiatives.\nReview technical specifications, surveys, and condition reports.\nAssist with bid submissions and technical solutions for new business opportunities.\nClient & Stakeholder ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.\nAttend client meetings and present technical performance, compliance updates, and improvement initiatives.\nProvide expert advice regarding asset lifecycle management and engineering strategy.\nSupport client retention through outstanding technical service delivery.\nTeam DevelopmentCoach, mentor, and develop engineering teams across the portfolio.\nDeliver technical training and support professional development initiatives.\nPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nSupport recruitment, onboarding, and competency assessments of engineering personnel.\nKnowledge, Skills & Experience EssentialSignificant experience in a Technical Services Manager, Senior Engineering Manager, Contract Manager, or similar leadership role within Facilities Management.\nStrong technical background in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Engineering.\nComprehensive understanding of critical building services infrastructure.\nExcellent knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety legislation, and engineering governance.\nProven experience managing engineering teams across multiple sites or contracts.\nStrong stakeholder management and client-facing experience.\nAbility to analyse technical data and develop practical engineering solutions.\nExcellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.\nProficient in CAFM systems and engineering reporting tools.\nDesirableHNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.\nAuthorised Person (AP) qualifications in relevant disciplines.\nIOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification.\nMembership of a recognised professional body (IET, CIBSE, IMechE, etc.).\nExperience working within critical environments, corporate real estate, or large-scale FM portfolios.\nAt BGIS we believe that diversity and inclusion is a key business driver, such that we never lose sight of its importance as it is woven into the fabric of our organisation.
