This position oversees front-desk access control, monitors building entry and exit, conducts routine security checks, and supervises student employees assigned to front-desk duties. The Building Supervisor serves as a visible point of contact at the building’s front desk and ensures that established building access and security procedures are consistently followed.\nEssential Responsibilities:\nMonitor and manage access to the building through the front desk.\nVerify identification, authorization, or other credentials as required before permitting access.\nMaintain awareness of individuals entering and exiting the building.\nProvide a professional and helpful first point of contact for students, employees, visitors, and guests.\nMaintain accurate access, incident, and other required logs.\nRespond appropriately to questions, concerns, and unusual or unauthorized access attempts.\nFollow established procedures for after-hours access and restricted areas.\nConduct routine walkthroughs of the building to ensure doors, entrances, and other designated access points are properly secured.\nCheck that exterior and designated interior doors are locked and functioning properly.\nIdentify and report security concerns, damaged locks, doors, alarms, lighting, or other facility issues.\nMonitor for unusual activity and promptly escalate security or safety concerns to the appropriate emergency personnel.\nEnsure front-desk and security operations remain adequately staffed during assigned hours.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nQualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional experience in security, facilities management, or a related field preferred.\nPrevious experience in building operations, security, front-desk services, customer service, or a related role preferred.\nAbility to follow established building access, security, and emergency response procedures.\nStrong observational skills and the ability to recognize, assess, and report unusual activity or potential safety and security concerns.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with students, employees, visitors, and guests.\nAbility to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.\nAbility to maintain accurate records, logs, and incident reports.\nAbility to supervise, guide, and provide direction to student employees and ensure front-desk responsibilities are carried out appropriately.\nBasic computer skills and the ability to learn and use access control systems, communication tools, and other relevant technology.\nAbility to conduct routine building walkthroughs and check doors, entrances, and other designated access points.\nAbility to work assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, as required by operational needs.\nCommitment to maintaining a safe, secure, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all building occupants and visitors.\nWork Schedule:\nExpected work hours are between 8:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.\nWeekend shifts may vary based on building operational needs and staffing requirements.\nFlexibility to work evening and weekend hours is required.\nPosition Type\nTemporaryAdditional Information\nNortheastern University considers factors such as candidate work experience, education and skills when extending an offer.\nNortheastern has a comprehensive benefits package for benefit eligible employees.
