Northern Star continues to invest in building a strong asset base through strategic acquisitions and aggressive exploration to extend the mine lives across its world-class operations and generate earning accretive value for its Shareholders through operational effectiveness.\nWe currently have an exciting opportunity at our Pogo operation for an experienced and motivated Surface Operator on a four week on, two week off rotating schedule or days and nights.\nWhat do we offer?\nVibrant hub of activity on site, with the ability to be part of successful and productive team \nPermanent position and extended mine-life offering job security.\nExcellent remuneration package with bonuses, insurances, 401k and paid leave.\nOngoing development opportunities and growth within a company that continuously invest in their people.\nWhat’s the role?\nThe Surface Operator reports to the Surface Operations Supervisor, and the primary role is to operate various heavy and light surface equipment to maintain surface conditions, roads and site facilities such as the dry stack\nThe specifics:\nUnloading of tractor trailer delivery trucks and knowledgeable of equipment load limits as well as load charts \nSafely and efficiently operate large and small equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, excavators, graders, dozers, forklifts, bobcats, fuel wagon, water truck and small loaders.\nFuelling static equipment such as heaters.\nConstruction and maintenance of surface haul roads, laydowns and parking areas.\nConstruction and maintenance of dry stack facility.\nHaul mineralised ore and waste between mining and processing operations. \nContinuously review scheduled jobs to identify opportunities for improvement.\nEnsure all safety related activities are undertaken in accordance with Company policy and MSHA requirements including Hazard ID’s, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting \nMaintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas.\nOther duties as required.\nQualifications Required \nCurrent Driver's License\nDesired Experience & Competencies\nExperience operating small and heavy equipment in a construction/mining environment.\nComputer literacy - Microsoft Office, etc. \nGood communication skills.\nFlexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.\nAwareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations. \nBe able to pass a background check and post offer physical.\nWorking a 28 days on, 14 day off rotating schedule up to 12.0 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.\nEmployees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi.
