The successful candidate will have experience developing and supporting integrations using web services, application programming interfaces, and database connectivity within a secure enterprise environment.\nThe engineer is also expected to effectively use approved artificial intelligence-assisted development tools, including Copilot, throughout the software development lifecycle to improve development efficiency, testing effectiveness, troubleshooting, documentation, and overall code quality. All AI-assisted output must be appropriately reviewed, validated, secured, and tested prior to implementation.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, maintain, and support secure, scalable Java-based enterprise integration solutions using REST and SOAP web services, application programming interfaces, and database connectivity.\nTroubleshoot and resolve application, integration, interface, data-processing, and service-related issues while implementing enhancements to meet evolving business and technical requirements.\nApply secure software-development practices and remediate vulnerabilities identified through application security testing while maintaining system functionality and reliability.\nManage application security requirements, including certificate, credential, and password rotations, and resolve related authentication and authorization issues.\nMaintain and enhance automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to improve deployment consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.\nSupport application releases, deployment validation, production issue resolution, and appropriate testing of application changes prior to implementation.\nIdentify and implement opportunities to automate development, testing, deployment, and operational processes.\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation for applications, integrations, interfaces, deployment processes, and supported solutions.\nThe successful candidate is expected to incorporate approved AI-assisted development tools into day-to-day engineering activities, including:\nAccelerating code development, refactoring, integration development, and maintenance of existing solutions.\nSupporting development and refinement of unit and integration tests, code reviews, defect identification, debugging, and root-cause analysis.\nAssisting with analysis and remediation of application security findings.\nSupporting build and deployment automation, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.\nIdentifying opportunities to responsibly use AI-assisted capabilities to improve developer productivity, software quality, and engineering efficiency.\nRequired Qualifications\n9+ years of overall experience.\nStrong experience developing and supporting enterprise application using Java 8 or later and Spring Framework.\nExperience developing and supporting web services, application programming interfaces, and relational database integrations.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, and production issues.\nExperience with source control, automated build and deployment pipelines, and modern software-development lifecycle practices.\nKnowledge of secure software-development practices, including application vulnerability identification, security testing, and remediation.\nExperience with application security concepts, including digital certificates, credentials, authentication, authorization, and password management.\nExperience developing and executing unit, integration, regression, and interface testing.\nStrong technical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting complex, business-critical enterprise applications and integrations.\nExperience modernizing or migrating on-premises application and integrations to cloud-based environments.\nExperience with application security, certificate and credential management, and vulnerability remediation.\nExperience developing and maintaining automated build and deployment pipelines.\nExperience using Copilot or similar approved AI-assisted development tools to enhance software development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and code quality.\nCore Competencies\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.\nAbility to independently investigate complex issues and drive them through resolution.\nStrong focus on quality, security, reliability, and operational readiness.\nAbility to effectively collaborate across development, testing, cybersecurity, infrastructure, operations, and business teams.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and solutions.\nDemonstrated ownership and accountability for assigned solutions throughout the development and support lifecycle.\nAdaptability and willingness to adopt new technologies, tools, and development practices, including responsible use of AI-assisted capabilities.\nCommitment to continuous improvement, automation, and engineering efficiency.\nWorking with Us\nAs a Northern Trust partner, you will be part of a flexible and collaborative work culture, which has a strong history of financial strength and stability.
