This individual will work closely with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, and analytics teams to design and deliver modern applications and scalable platforms that improve investment decision-making, operational efficiency, and client outcomes.\nThis role is central to advancing the TAE technology platform by embedding modern engineering practices, cloud-native solutions, and data analytics capabilities into the investment process.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nPartner with the Tax-Advantaged Equity team to design, develop, and maintain investment technology platforms supporting portfolio management, tax optimization, investment analytics, and research workflows.\nBuild modern web applications and dashboards using .NET, C#, and cloud-native technologies to provide portfolio managers and researchers with intuitive access to investment insights and workflow tools.\nDevelop scalable APIs, services, and application frameworks that support portfolio construction, tax-loss harvesting, portfolio monitoring, and investment reporting capabilities.\nDesign and maintain cloud-based data pipelines that aggregate, normalize, and distribute investment, benchmark, portfolio, holdings, transaction, and market data for research and production use cases.\nLeverage Azure Cloud technologies to build resilient, secure, and scalable solutions that support the investment lifecycle.\nDevelop Python-based analytics and automation tools that improve research productivity, portfolio analytics, and operational efficiency.\nCollaborate with quantitative researchers and portfolio managers to implement new investment models, portfolio optimization techniques, and analytical capabilities.\nImprove application performance, scalability, and reliability by applying software engineering best practices, testing frameworks, and CI/CD processes.\nWork with cross-functional teams across Investments, Technology, Data Engineering, and Analytics to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives.\nIdentify innovative solutions to complex business and technical challenges and advocate for their implementation through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.\nEngage with business stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and ensure successful delivery of technology solutions.\nWork within established development, security, governance, and risk management standards.\nKnowledge/Skills:\nStrong software engineering and application development experience, preferably within financial services or investment management.\nExperience building enterprise applications using.NET and C#.\nUnderstanding of Azure Cloud, cloud-native architectures, APIs, and distributed systems.\nExperience developing data-driven solutions and analytics platforms using Python.\nFamiliarity with investment management concepts including Equities, Portfolio Construction, Tax-managed investing, Portfolio analytics, Risk management and Investment workflows.\nStrong understanding of software development lifecycle, DevOps practices, and modern engineering principles.\nAbility to connect technology solutions with business outcomes in an investment management environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, investment analysts, and technology partners.\nExperience with relational databases, SQL, and data modeling.\nFamiliarity with modern web application architectures and API development.\nExperience Required:\n1-4 years of experience in software engineering, quantitative engineering, investment technology, or data engineering.\nStrong proficiency in C# .NET, React, Python and SQL.\nExperience with Microsoft Azure, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, Azure Storage, Azure SQL or equivalent cloud services.\nExperience building APIs, enterprise applications, dashboards, and cloud-based solutions.\nExposure to investment management, asset management, or financial services is preferred.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline.\nCFA designation or progress toward CFA is a plus.\nWorking with Us\nAs a Northern Trust partner, you will be part of a flexible and collaborative work culture, which has a strong history of financial strength and stability.
