This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys investigating production issues, partnering with business users, and delivering code fixes and enhancements in a fast-paced environment.\nThe successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource for Chicago-based application support while contributing hands-on development using Java, Spring, and SQL technologies. This position requires strong analytical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot complex application and data issues through to resolution.\nMajor Duties\nProvide Level 2 and Level 3 application support for critical business applications, ensuring timely investigation and resolution of production issues.\nPartner with business users and stakeholders to understand issues, gather requirements, and provide ongoing systems guidance.\nPerform root-cause analysis of application, data, and integration issues and implement sustainable solutions.\nDevelop, test, and deploy application fixes, enhancements, and minor features using Java and Spring-based technologies.\nAnalyze SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to diagnose data-related issues and improve system performance.\nParticipate in release validation, user acceptance testing, and production deployments.\nMonitor application health and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability, stability, and supportability.\nPrepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-sharing materials.\nCollaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure seamless delivery and support of applications.\nSupport project initiatives by contributing to requirements analysis, solution design, testing, and implementation activities.\nMentor junior team members and share technical expertise across the team.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.\n2+ years of experience supporting and developing enterprise applications.\nStrong hands-on experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.\nStrong SQL skills with experience troubleshooting and analyzing relational databases.\nExperience debugging application issues across multiple tiers, including application, database, and integration layers.\nExperience working in production support, application support, or DevOps-oriented environments.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and effectively engage with business stakeholders.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Oracle databases,.\nExposure to Azure cloud technologies.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.\nKnowledge of monitoring and observability tools.\nFinancial services experience is a plus.\nWhat You'll Bring\nA strong ownership mindset and willingness to drive issues through resolution.\nAbility to balance operational support responsibilities with hands-on development work.\nComfort working directly with business partners and translating technical issues into business impact.\nPassion for continuous improvement and application reliability.\nSalary Range:\n$73,500 - 117,700 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
