Northmarq was voted by Real Estate Forum as one of The Best Places to Work in Commercial Real Estate! \nThe Accountant supports accurate and timely accounting for cash activity by preparing journal entries, reconciling assigned bank accounts, researching variances, and monitoring the flow of transaction information between Salesforce and the ERP. This role requires a working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, deal-related accounting, banking platforms, and transaction dependencies. The ideal candidate combines strong Excel and systems skills with initiative, attention to detail, critical thinking, and resourcefulness. They are eager to learn, willing to take on new areas, and continually look for ways to improve processes and support the broader accounting team.\nNorthmarq does not provide immigration sponsorship for this position. Candidates must possess unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future, to be considered for this position.\n*This role supports a flexible schedule that prioritizes in -office teamwork, with flexibility for remote work when appropriate.\nSpecific Responsibilities\nMaintain a thorough understanding of automated processes, including information retrieval, its source systems, and journal entry production.\nPrepare and record accurate journal entries on a timely basis in accordance with U.S. GAAP.\nMaintain a working understanding of the ERP and the processes used to record cash and deal-related activity, including advanced workbooks that utilizes macros and ODBC connections.\nUnderstand the various transaction types and the typical accounting entries associated with each.\nReview the Salesforce-to-ERP reconciliation regularly throughout the month to confirm that deals are recorded accurately and investigate identified exceptions.\nReconcile assigned bank accounts on a regular basis and complete reconciliations in accordance with month-end close deadlines.\nUnderstand the sources of information used in each assigned bank reconciliation and the information available through applicable banking platforms.\nResearch and investigate reconciling items and identified variances on a timely basis, coordinate resolution with appropriate partners, and escalate issues when needed.\nIdentify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of the assigned processes.\nUnderstand the upstream and downstream impacts of processed transactions and accounting entries.\nWillingness to use evolving technology and available system capabilities to support accurate, efficient accounting processes.\nCommunicate clearly and concisely regarding transaction activity, exceptions, and required follow-up.\nPerform additional related duties and back-up, as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree\n3+ years of relevant accounting experience\nAccounting experience involving journal entries, account reconciliations, or cash activity.\nAccounting software or ERP experience (Netsuite or Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred).\nSalesforce experience desired.\nWorking knowledge of U.S. GAAP\nUnderstanding of commercial real estate and mortgage banking preferred.\nProficiency with Microsoft Suite products.\nExperience in a multi-entity environment, with exposure to intercompany accounting, consolidations, and entity-level financial reporting.\nPreferred Qualifications \nCPA\nHigh degree of computer skills including proficiency in a variety of accounting applications, Excel spreadsheets (advanced formulas, macro building, Power Query experience, ODBC and other data connectivity knowledge) and various other Microsoft Office products\nAbility to understand data sources, system interfaces, journal-entry logic, and transaction dependencies.\nWorking knowledge of ERP, Salesforce, and online banking platforms.\nStrong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills.\nClear and concise written and verbal communication.\nDemonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.\nResourcefulness and the ability to investigate and resolve variances on a timely basis.\nAbility to work independently and collaborate effectively\nCommitment to continuous improvement, learning, and the effective use of evolving technology.\n Northmarq offers a highly competitive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, paid time off, 401K match and an annual discretionary contribution based on business performance, paid parental leave and adoption assistance, education assistance, volunteer paid time off, charitable contribution match and so much more!\nNorthmarq carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 annually.
