This role is ideal for an engineer who can work directly with users, solve complex modeling and simulation challenges, and help strengthen HPC software workflows in a fast-paced on-site lab setting.\nResponsibilities:\nSupport HPC users and technical staff in a research and development environment, helping solve modeling and simulation workflow issues across heterogeneous, multi-platform systems. Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based software used in HPC environments, including existing code bases and distributed applications. Partner closely with the Technical User Support team, team lead, Chief Scientist, customers, and site staff to resolve technical problems and improve user effectiveness. Contribute across the software lifecycle including requirements, design, coding, documentation, testing, and maintenance. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and scientists, lead code reviews, and create training materials, tutorials, and onboarding content for users and internal staff.\nRequired Qualifications:\nTS/SCI Clearance with CI Polygraph\nBachelor’s degree in a STEM-related discipline\n10+ years of professional software engineering experience\nAround 5 years of experience developing and using modeling and simulation software in heterogeneous, multi-platform environments\nExperience supporting HPC user workflows for modeling and simulation problems, including GUI-based workflows\nKnowledge of High Performance Computing environments and related technologies\nProficiency in Fortran, C, and/or C++\nProficiency with Bash and Korn shell scripting\nStrong Linux experience, including the ability to troubleshoot end-user system issues independently in a lab environment\nExperience with coding standards, unit testing, and configuration management\nStrong ability to analyze, debug, and maintain existing code bases\nExperience with requirements, use cases, design, coding, documentation, and testing of scalable distributed applications in Linux environments\nExperience mentoring junior engineers or scientists, providing technical guidance, and leading code reviews\nExperience designing and delivering training workshops, tutorials, or onboarding materials for HPC users and internal staff\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical teams and customer stakeholders\nExcellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and solid organizational skills\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience working on-site with research and development customers in mission-focused environments\nExperience supporting technical user communities in HPC or scientific computing settingsBackground balancing software engineering, end-user support, and technical training responsibilities in the same role\n\nNorth Point Technology is THE BEST place to work for curious-minded engineers motivated to support our country’s most crucial missions!
