This is a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and play a key role in establishing and scaling a new AI product engineering capability within Northrop Grumman UK.\nWorking alongside engineers, technical specialists and users, you will take products from concept through to adoption. You will help shape technical direction, influence product strategy, and deliver innovative solutions using modern AI technologies including large language models (LLMs), retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows.\nIf you enjoy solving real-world problems, experimenting with emerging technologies and building software that has meaningful impact, this could be the opportunity for you.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nYou will:\nDesign, build and maintain AI-enabled software products that support operational mission outcomes.\nDevelop capabilities using LLMs, RAG architectures, agentic workflows and other emerging AI technologies.\nWork directly with users and stakeholders to understand challenges and translate requirements into valuable product features.\nContribute to product roadmaps, software architecture decisions and engineering standards.\nImplement robust engineering practices including testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability and supportability.\nSupport technical demonstrations, stakeholder engagement activities, innovation initiatives and recruitment efforts.\nWhat we’re looking for\nWe are interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate:\nExperience designing, developing or supporting software products or applications.\nKnowledge of modern software engineering practices, including testing, version control and continuous integration.\nExperience or strong interest in AI technologies, machine learning, LLMs, RAG solutions or intelligent automation.\nStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex technical challenges.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.\nThe ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative multidisciplinary teams.\nDesirable experience\nDefence, national security, government or advanced technology sector experience.\nExperience developing AI-enabled products or data-driven applications.\nExposure to cloud-native technologies, modern software architectures and DevOps practices.\nExperience mentoring colleagues or contributing to technical leadership activities.\nDegree qualification in a relevant discipline, although equivalent experience is equally valued.\nEven if you do not meet every requirement, we would still encourage you to apply.
