This IRAD effort has over 100 engineers and will be leveraging new and existing technologies to build fire control systems from the ground up.\nPosition Overview:\nAs an Algorithms Software Engineer - Level 3 or 4 on the Boost Phase Prediction team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, documenting, and debugging software and complex mathematical algorithms. This fast-paced and cutting-edge research and development environment will rely on your familiarity with modern software practices. You are expected to communicate technical information effectively and clearly, and present technical approaches and findings. Our team of motivated technical talent works closely with the end user (and each other) to ensure the direct mission applicability of developed products.\nEssential Functions:\nBreadth and depth in the application of mathematics to perform data analysis and algorithm development for missile tracking applications.\nDevelopment and performance analysis of tracking and state estimation algorithms.\nTool and prototype development using Modern C++ and/or Python.\nAlgorithm defect tracking and resolution.\nTechnical Documentation as required.\nWork in cross-discipline teams and communicate clearly across various levels of engineers.\nSeeking candidates who find satisfaction in working on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings across all levels.\nThis requisition may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications listed below.\nThis requisition may be filled at either a Principal Algorithm Software Engineer (T03) or a Sr. Principal Algorithm Software Engineer (T04) level.\nBasic Qualifications:\n Principal Algorithm Software Engineer (Level 3): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 1 year of experience.\n Sr. Principal Algorithm Software Engineer (Level 4): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years experience, or a PhD and 4 year of experience.\nApplicants must have a minimum of 1 year of software development experience with Python and/or C++.\nApplicants must have Linux experience and working knowledge of common utilities like grep, awk, cat head, etc.\nExperience developing, analyzing, testing, and implementing extendable / reusable algorithms.\nApplicants must have algorithm design and state estimation experience.\nExperience with data analysis - Population statistics and trend identification.\nThe ability to bridge between theoretical concepts and practical implementation.\nAbility and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.\nApplicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nStrong statistical background and skills.\nExperience in tracking and prediction algorithms, simulation, and validation.\nExperience in the numerical implementation of motion filters.\nFamiliarity with Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) sensors and simulations is a plus.\nFamiliarity with tools like JIRA, Bitbucket, Conan, Nexus, and containerized build and run environments.\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
