Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Sector has an immediate opportunity available for aManager, DevOps Engineering 1 located in Linthicum, MD or Baltimore, MD.\nWhat You’ll Get To Do:\nThe Manager, DevOps Engineering 1 will serve as the functional manager for a team of up to 8 DevOps engineers supporting software development and delivery programs. This role is responsible for employee performance management, staffing and workload assignments, career development, mentoring, training, and fostering an inclusive, accountable, and collaborative work environment. The position is expected to allocate approximately 10% of its time to functional management responsibilities, with the remaining 90% dedicated to direct technical contributions supporting DevOps, software integration, automation, and deployment activities.\nThe manager will work with program leadership and technical leads to align team resources with program priorities, address staffing needs, remove organizational impediments, and support the team’s execution of DevSecOps, software integration, and deployment activities. The DevOps Manager will also communicate organizational direction, ensure adherence to applicable processes and standards, monitor team performance and capacity, and drive continuous improvement in workforce capability and delivery effectiveness.\nRoles & Responsibilities:\nLead and manage a team of DevOps engineers supporting software development, integration, test, release, and deployment activities.\nProvide technical and functional insight for CI/CD pipelines, build and release automation, development environments, infrastructure automation, and software integration activities.\nPartner with software, systems, test, cybersecurity, hardware, and program teams to support demand priorities and resolve cross-functional issues.\nGuide the team in applying DevSecOps practices, including continuous integration, automated testing, source-code management, configuration management, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation.\nRemove or escalate team impediments that affect delivery commitments, technical execution, or employee effectiveness.\nTrack and communicate team progress, delivery status, capacity, risks, metrics, and key accomplishments functional leadership.\nEstablish clear employee performance expectations; provide timely feedback; recognize accomplishments; and address performance concerns.\nConduct performance reviews, support staffing and workload assignments, and guide employees in career development.\nProvide technical coaching, DevOps mentoring, and professional-development support to team members.\nCommunicate organizational direction, program priorities, and functional expectations to the team.\nFoster an inclusive, respectful, accountable, and collaborative team environment aligned to Northrop Grumman values.\nTravel up to 10%\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field) with 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a related technical field with 3 years of related experience.\nU.S. Citizenship required.\nMust be able to obtain a Secret clearance. A Secret clearance is required to start. Must be able to obtain Special Program Access. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance and Special Program Access for continued employment. \nDemonstrated with previous team leadership\nExperience with software development lifecycle activities, including software build, integration, test, release, and configuration management.\nExperience with CI/CD tools, source-code management, and software integration and test activities.\nExperience working in Linux-based development, test, integration, or deployment environments.\nExperience identifying technical or program risks, recommending mitigations, tracking defects or operational issues, developing resolutions, and reporting status.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrior functional-management experience, including employee performance management, staffing or workload allocation, process leadership, mentoring, and career development.\nExperience with IBM Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest, GitLab, Jenkins, and the Atlassian tool set.\nExperience implementing or supporting DevSecOps practices, including automated testing, automated deployment, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and security scanning.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code or configuration-management tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or equivalent.\nExperience with container technologies and orchestration platforms, such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or equivalent.\nExperience with code quality, static analysis, and security tools, such as SonarQube, vulnerability scanning, or software-composition analysis.\nExperience with software monitoring, logging, alerting, operational support, or incident-response practices.\nWorking knowledge of software architecture, open standards, secure software development, and defense-industry engineering practices.\nDemonstrated communication, collaboration, technical leadership, and people-leadership skills.\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
